Dislocations

Has anyone ever dislocated anything? How long was your recovery?

I ask because my wrist had been hurting for about a week, I was struggling to pick anything up over a kg, limited movement, in discomfort, and I had what I thought at the time was a ganglion cyst appearing. It wasn't getting better, so I went to the physio, who told me I had dislocated a bone in my wrist (god knows how) and he put it back in place (it was that 'cyst' I thought I had)

It hurt for a couple of days after, but now 2 days after, it's feeling really good. Prob at about 70%. Still limited mobility, but pretty good.

Is this normal??? when I woke up nearly pain free yesterday, I was worried at first, I thought it was numb for ages and didn't think it was a good sign, then I realised it wasn't numb, but am shocked at how good it is feeling so soon.

I had a bad ganglion cyst for about 15 years. When I had surgery to remove it, they had to remove some of my wrist bones too. Never had a dislocation though.

You would not be able to function with a dislocation. It is possible to have a dislocation put back in it's socket again and function, but probably not have mobility while it's still dislocated. Will be sore for weeks to months after.

    Best of luck
I am lost, I'm no guide, but I'm by your side

Really, Jeags? You've never gotten it fixed? I banged up both of my shoulders real good playing rugby(dislocated both of them), and want to get em fixed sometime soon. Today I was shoveling my dad's log splitter out of the snow and while tossing the snow over my shoulder just more "pops" going on. I'm hoping I'm not like this for life. I enjoyed my ability to high five people at games without my shoulder popping out....Lately...not so much.

I'm with the poster - anyone know of any good PT exercises for the shoulder until I have surgery(quit my job for school, hence I no longer have health insurance)?

Dislocated my kneecap twice (full dislocation, requiring ambulance, ER and all that fun), once at age 14 and then again at age 23.
Different treatments and different recoveries. As a teen, they put me in a hard cast, much longer recovery, not sure if its because I was younger and still growing or the doctor was an idiot. As a young adult was put in a soft immobilizer, started rehab much sooner.

    You win.

My wrist was sore, but fuck that shit.

I had a mate who came off his dirt bike, he wait for it, Dislocated, fractured and broke the same wrist/hand or some shit, several operations on it.

Then he also did his knee. He came to a party, soon after he was out of hospital. I couldn't help myself laugh, cause he looked like this
