Pablo about to be a free agent. Red Sox just cut him. This horrible Giants season just got a little better knowing some other dumb team gave him that deal instead of the Giants.

I thought the Giants offered the same deal?

They offered same years and amount but insisted on a weight clause. The Red Sox did not include it.

Sandoval wants to come back? Weight clause or not, but according to Sandoval he left money on the table from the Giants.

So, there were 2 dumb teams that was willing to give him that deal>LOL

Though, regardless, don't know how the Giants season got better because Sandoval was DFA?

Do you guys want him back?

Report: Sandoval would 'love' to return to Giants

    https://www.thescore.com/news/1326731

Home may be where the heart is for Pablo Sandoval.

The former All-Star third baseman, who's currently in limbo after the Boston Red Sox designated him for assignment on Friday, has reportedly told friends he would "love" to return to the San Francisco Giants, where he spent his first seven big-league seasons, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Giants general manager Bobby Evans wouldn't comment on whether the interest is mutual, according to Heyman, citing the fact that Sandoval remains under contract with Boston.

Sandoval became a beloved figure during his stint in the Bay Area, when he manned the hot corner for the Giants' World Series championships in 2010, 2012, and 2014, and was the MVP of the 2012 series after his record-tying three homers in Game 1 against Detroit.

Over 869 regular-season games with San Francisco, Sandoval posted an .811 OPS and 106 home runs, while making two All-Star appearances.

But the "Kung Fu Panda" era of Giants baseball came to a bitter end when he reached free agency and signed his now infamous five-year, $95-million deal with Boston. During his first spring training with the Red Sox in March 2015, he took several shots at his old club in an interview with Bleacher Report's Scott Miller.

"I knew early in spring training last year I was going to leave," Sandoval told Miller. "They didn't respect my agent. Contract talks, everything. The way (then-GM) Brian Sabean talked to my agent.

"I left money on the table in San Francisco. It is not about money. It is about how you treat the player."

Sandoval's Red Sox tenure came to an inglorious end after he was DFA'd Friday while on a rehab assignment. He's still owed another $48.66 million over the remaining two-plus years of his contract, which will be covered by the Red Sox unless he's claimed on waivers.

The 30-year-old hit just .237/.286/.360 with 14 homers over 161 games with Boston. He's appeared in just 35 games combined during the last two seasons combined.

Giants GM open to Sandoval reunion

Don't rule out a potential Panda sighting in San Francisco.

Struggling third baseman Pablo Sandoval, who was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Friday, infamously slammed the Giants in 2015 after he bolted the Bay Area for Boston and a five-year, $95-million contract. It therefore seemed unlikely that an eventual reunion with San Francisco would be in the cards.

However, Giants general manager Bobby Evans, who was promoted to the position just months after Sandoval left as a free agent, admitted the franchise could have their eye on signing the former slugger - who won three World Series during his time in San Francisco - despite all that was said.

"I don't know what ultimately what the Red Sox are going to do and we'll just have to see how that plays out," Evans said on MLB Network Radio. "I don't think that any of us felt particularly brunt by his comments. I think that we all know him and we all didn't wear anything personally from his departure.

"But I can't really say, I mean I don't really know what Boston is going to do. And we do have third base locked up right now. I mean of course (Eduardo) Nunez has been talked about by a lot of clubs, and so we'll see how that plays out. But we'll just have to take it day to day I guess."

After signing with the Red Sox in 2014, Sandoval thoroughly failed to live up to lofty expectations. Amid constant criticism surrounding his weight, along with lengthy spells on the sidelines due to injury, the 30-year-old appeared in just 161 games for Boston over three seasons, slashing .237/.286/.360.

A trip back to San Francisco - a move the slugger would reportedly love to make happen - could be the remedy to get Sandoval's career back on track. The hefty infielder was a fan favorite during his seven seasons with the Giants, when he slashed .294/.346/.465, slugged 106 home runs, and won the World Series MVP Award in 2012.

Taking a flyer on Panda seems smart. Giants have no permanent 3rd baseman. But Romo better not be coming back. Why bring back a 30+ reliever?

Giants just ended their 500+ game sellout streak. I wouldn't put it past them to try and bring back the 2014 squad to see some tickets the rest of this season.

that streak was pretty fradulent. I caught the last two innings of their comeback against the tribe. announced attendance was 41,900 and there were a shitload of empty seats. I wonder what the actual turnstile count has been this year? still, much better than the "crowds" they would get at the 'stick.
