I've been listening to San Fran sports radio today and they are getting a slight giggle out of Panda. They are being somewhat gentle as he did leave town the right way but it is being discussed. This was always managements fear. Its sad as he's going to get hurt again much like he did 2011/2012 when his feet, knees and the rest of him cant handle playing at that weight.

I can't wait for this baseball season. I have low expectations for them which always makes it more enjoyable. If they do well it wasn't expected and if they bomb it was expected so much less heart burn involved. I couldnt stay away from Scottsdale stadium despite me still being pissed at the prices. I got front row tickets half way down the 1st base line for a game against the Brewers. I love the first base seats as you can watch the Giants dugout to see who all interacts with whom and at what level. Always entertaining between innings watching the rookies try to navigate all that. I think its going to be 4 games this season only for me with only the 1 with them home. With the new prices I cant run over at lunchtime for the first 4 or 5 innings like I used to.

Personally I'm glad he turned it down. I read an article the other day going over guys who pitched 27000 pitches in an 8 year window which Shields qualifies. They almost always fall off a cliff quickly afterwards. Zito was on that list. Shields agent is an idiot. So he turned down their offer trying to get that 5th year only to have the Giants pull it after they resigned Peavy. Sometimes the best signings and trades are ones you don't make. Price, Zimmerman and may others will be on the market next offseason. We have Timmy coming off the books as well as Hudson. They should be primed to land another front line guy for about the same AAV as they offered Shields next offseason.
