Hey all. I know there is are a decent amount of Queens of the Stone Age fans on this board and I was wondering if someone could hook me up with a copy of their b-side 'Like a Drug'. It's their one b-side I don't have. Also, if there's an acoustic version of 'In the Fade' I'd be eternally grateful if you could send that along too.
my email address is adamjayjohnson@hotmail.com

Thanks for anyone who can help out! :-)

  • Could someone please share with me as well! Thanks!! I had no idea there was an acoustic version of In The Fade, which is probably one of my fav QOTSA songs ever. Pure Lanegan magic there...

be careful sharing music on this forum. some people are quick to call you a thief or a music pirater. i was called such a few days ago after asking a question about bonnaroo, so just watch out.

That ain't cool. It's one thing to share music that's readily available. But if you can't find something on ITunes or amazon or whatever, what's the BFD about sharing it?

believe me i know. i never take what is said on a forum very seriously but it is a whole different thing being called a thief by a bunch of jerks who dont know you!! hmmmm i guess i really shouldnt let it bother me but oh well. i am only human.
  • these guys worth starting to get into?? i llove what i know (go with the flow, 3's and 7's, and no one knows)

also can someone explain to me the whole lanegan thing? i know josh hommes (or something) has been the lead singer so where did mark lanegan fit in? fucking love screaming trees.

  • On one of their records Lanegan was a guest singer on some songs (Song For The Dead, Hangin Tree) but he is NOT a member of the band and never was.

For me QotSA lost everything they once were or had - 3's & 7's is a surprising exception. What you mentioned were their best songs ever (maybe Sky Is Falling should be added ;)).

There was a time that I was really into QotSA and stuff (that's where my username is from --> stoner rock --> Stonerlady, I just got stuck with it), but it all changed since I've seen them live for the first time at Rock im Park 2008. I was so excited as it was a really good night until that. Eagles Of Death Metal really rocked the crowd - it was amazing (and Jesse kissed me  ). QotSA were headlining, came on stage, played their set - way too fast (really bad drummer) and Josh messed up what seems like everything (he's just not a singer). The rest of the band was ok but they couldn't make up for what Josh and the drummer did to my ears. And they all seemed so bored on stage, just like they're doing their job that they do but not really love. I don't think I#ve ever been so disappointed after a concert. And since that whenever I listen to QotSA I skip every song until the end of the record as I just can't hear this voice anymore. I'd love to have seen them in 2002 when Nick Olivieri was still with them and they were crazy and rocking. He might be difficult, but since he's gone, QotSA could as well quit the band (did they already by founding Them Crooked Vultures??). After all it was just Josh Homme and some other guys.

Hmmm - well, I haven't yet seen QOTSA live (i was out of town when they came to Philly), and I don't have their first album (or any b-sides), but their last 4 albums are all pretty damn awesome, IMO.

Rated R is some really cool stuff - maybe not as hard as some of the later stuff, but pretty damn good.

Songs for the Deaf is still the best - Dave Grohl on drums always helps out the cause, but the album just kicks ass top to bottom.

Lullabies is almost as good as Songs for the Deaf - maybe fades a bit at the end. Check out Everybody Knows That You're Insane.

Era Vulgaris, I think, gets a bit of a bad rap, but it's got some unbelievably loud and awesome riffs. Run Pig Run is a rock & roll masterpiece!

Bottom line: getting into this band is one of the best things that's ever happened to me!

  • I like Rated R and Songs For The Deaf - well, I'd still like them if I could still stand his voice ;) - the rest is crap in my eyes. But that's definitely a matter of opinion.

Great call! If you are going to own any QOTSA album this would be the one! This will always be in my top five albums of all time. It is also a rare one but thankfully they will be re-releasing it at the end of the year!

Stoner Lady, I'm sorry to hear about your bad live experience but I feel like that only happens once in a blue moon. Josh is great live, you must have just caught him on a bad day. Every musican has a bad day. I just saw Josh with TCV last Monday and he was great. Didn't mess up the vocals at all and was really into the show. Performing live is something that Josh genuinely loves to do and I suggest you go see Queens or TCV live again to bring back your love. Queens is a band that I could not live without.

Mexicola is great! I love every song on the album but if I had to choose my top two from the album I would go with "If Only" and "You Can't Quit Me Baby"

Mine would be If Only and Mexicola. But Songs For The Deaf is still their best one. Oh I love and miss Nick :( Need to listen to some Mondo Generator now ;)
