99% will never happen. I'd say 100, but crazy stuff happens.

PJ is ALOT bigger of a draw than the bands that play there usually. I think it would take somethin special to get them there. Maybe a festival revamping or an important anniversary. The artist list for Beale St. has gotten worse every year.

 Yeah.. Beale Street Music Festival usually only has small named artists like Dave Matthews Band, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Foo Fighters, Widespread Panic, Fall Out Boy, Snoop Dog, Sonic Youth, Counting Crows, Iggy and the Stooges, Trey Anastasio, The Killers, Sarah McLachlan, The Black Crowes, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Kid Rock, Stone Temple Pilots.. You know.. mostly theatre and club acts..

Yeah, there's 2 bands on their that are even comparable to PJ, as far a a live draw and the Foo's weren't when they played. DMB is the other and they just suck.

  • How far is N.O. from Memphis? Logistically, they could do it from Jazzfest.

Yeah, it looks like they could pull it off if they played Memphis on the Sunday. It may be a little bit rushed though...

  • Memphis is 6 hours from New Orleans.

If they're gonna do it it would probably be friday. There's a leaked list of Muse dates floating around that says they're the headliner for Sunday.

And as for Beale Street being a small festival, I'd never heard of that festival in Calgary until they played it in 09.
  • It could work. Since they are playing New Orleans on Saturday, they could close Memphis in May on Sunday. I live in Missouri and go through Memphis on the way to/from New Orleans, so I'm hoping for this one.

That would be SO awesome!! I would totaly take a trip to Memphis for Pearl Jam! I used to live there and have a lot of family there who I always need to see, so I organized a road trip last summer to coincide with Eddie's solo gig at the Orpheum, and took my little cousins (who weren't yet really familiar with Ed or PJ) to the show. There aren't many better trips than the ones where you get to see Eddie Vedder, your grandparents and other relatives, and old friends all at once! :)
  • This would be nice.

+1 If somebody told me a few years ago that Pearl Jam was playing Jazz Fest
I would have called them a fucking idiot. Now look at whats happening.

So Pearl Jam playing the Beal Street Music Fest is no longer that big of a stretch.
    It could happen.

Interestingly enough, the date of that announcement is pretty aligned with when the final poster will be sold (assuming it's still one a day). Some on the board believe that once the posters are sold, if a tour is planned, it'll be announced after the poster sales.

Personally, I don't see the correlation.

  • Memphis is my favorite place in the world...looking forward to visiting again March 19...and I used to go to the festival every year...well, i hit five or six in a row...and that would be cool if PJ did play it.

Here's my theory....supposedly southern shows don't sell that well so perhaps playing Jazz Fest and possibly Beale Street is a way to hit those cities without the need to fill an arena and to have a guaranteed pay day. So...it may not happen but using that logic it seems like a viable option
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
