You listened to Korn before you listened to Metallica? That seems backward.
Shimada: I'm very much a child of MTV.
Christian: I had almost zero introduction to metal. I had maybe (Metallica's) "Enter Sandman." I was a very big alternative rock fan. The most metal it got was maybe Soundgarden. And I still am to this day a card-carrying member of the Pearl Jam Fan Club. I always really enjoyed the heavier side of alternative rock. The first time I bought a metal CD was Rammstein. (Shimada laughs.) Aki's definitely laughing because for metal, it's very simplistic. But that heaviness -- that's badass! My education of metal was probably with this guy. We just swap music back and forth.
