A bit of heavy-handed censorship of a Pearl Jam concert by AT&T this weekend led the band to fire off an open letter to fans—a letter in which Pearl Jam railed against media and ISP consolidation and called for readers to support network neutrality.
So this censorship scandal is still growing, and politically (if not technically) it strikes at the heart of the "trust us with your communications" premise that forms one of the two central pillars of the telcos' attacks on network neutrality legislation. (The other pillar is "Government regulation is scaaaarrryyyy... big, scary regulations stifle the free market... ") If it continues to widen and gain real traction with the public, the concert censorship scandal may turn out to be the own goal that tips the net neutrality game into Copps and company's favor.

Dude, why are you so worked up about this? That Mike thread would probably have turned into a shit-throwing contest which is lame.

Anyway, since you're hung up on that Mike thread, there are way more Stone and Ed songs than there are Mike songs for the same reason that there are way more Paul and John songs than there are George songs.

But it didn't turn into anything other than fans talking about their favorite musicians. Everyone forgets it is not some grand privledge to post here we PAY to post here - this is not a free message board and we as a unit can make the regulations for posting. I am of the belief that the Mods who work for us should not be allowed to lock anything unless some other paying members clicks on the "!" button to report a post. Don't go thinking that every post that is reported should be locked but that is why that tool is there so we can police ouselves. Yes when we get out of hand sure then the Mods should step in and most certainly post why something is locked "Specifically" not just a vague "this is a rude post" answer. Didn't Ed say once that GoodCharlotte's music taste like a popsicle pulled from the devil's asshole. - then why how can a benign comment taken out of context amongst a very well thought post be locked. It is craziness.

I attack censorship!!!.......granted the 1st amendment does not exist on the board (which is ironic seeing as PJ used to be about free speech) but you learn to live with it around here and i have to tolerate it just like the rest of you.

but as far as the government censoring the public...I AIN'T HAVING THAT!!! no one fucks with my right to speak my mind as i choose...and if they do, then that's when the shit hits the fan my friend!!!
