One of the best albums about a break-up ever.

Ooooh pretty hate machine is sooo good that I remember the first time I took it from a pile of unwanted CDs when nobody knew NIN at that time... When I asked the people on the record store to let me hear it first before I bought it... I played the record on shuffle and listened for 30 seconds and I had to buy it :D

One the my top 5 best first records of all time

I got Head Like a Hole on a mixed tape from my gf, which she got from her older sister, which was given to her from a dj at a club I was not yet old enough to frequent....then I spent weeks trying to hunt down a copy of the cassette.

ah, the joys of discovering new music, pre-internet ;)

If I remember right it took a year or two for that album to take off. A gothy girl friend of mine was big time into them and The Cure in 1989-1990, before I or practically anyone else had heard of them. It's always great to discover a classic album. :)

Great album. Definitely one of my "musical awakenings" albums that really opened my eyes.
