i think this is for the best personally. i was worried we were gonna let him go. i will agree that he is starting to get just a little old slow and BIG for real contract money, but he will for sure still draw double coverage and continue to clog up the middle based on sheer mass

hampton is now getting a 3 yr extension worth +21mil with a 6.5 mil signing bonus. as such the franchise tag is now being placed on jeff reed

imo, this is pretty good i guess. i hope hampton can stay fit and healthy and relevant enough for 3 more seasons. i do enjoy seing guys locked up with the rooneys and steelers to finish their careers, it is def a "steeler football" move.

and reed? well he is only about the most consistent kicker in the nfl and the aces in the tough conditions at heinz field.

all in all a good thing. mostly i had been concerned with keeping hampton for another season or 2 so this clearly resolves that issue

Ben Roethlisberger Accused of Sexual Assault

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman early Friday morning at a club in Georgia.

TMZ was first to report the allegation.

The Milledgeville (Ga.) Police told ESPN a woman reported having been sexually assaulted or sexually manipulated by a white male, 6-foot-5, 241 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, but would not confirm that man was Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger's agent in a statement confirmed the Steelers quarterback was questioned, but no charges have been filed.

"Last night, Ben and his friends met a group of women and everyone mingled together throughout the evening," said Ryan Tollner, Roethlisberger's agent. "We have spoken to law enforcement. Based on information currently available, an allegation was made against Ben, which appeared to be dismissed after a preliminary investigation last night. Obviously, given the prior accusation against Ben, we are skeptical of motive, but we will continue to cooperate with everyone involved."

A Steelers spokesman told ESPN: "We are gathering information on the report and we will have no other comment at this time."

Roethlisberger, who owns a home in nearby Lake Oconee, Ga., is facing a civil lawsuit from Andrea McNulty, who claims he raped her in 2008 in Lake Tahoe, Nev. Roethlisberger has denied those allegations and no criminal charges were filed in that case.

Yeah, he's seemed to have gone quickly downhill in the personality department... I used to work at Mellon Arena, and he came to a lot of games and events during his first couple of years (probably still does) and he was always super nice and appreciative of everything.

But the stories I hear the last few years about him around town are totally different... Seems like his success has definitely gone to his big concussed head.

arnaz battle brings a game in decline tho to be fair he was in that mediocre 9ers offense, we'll see how he does as the 4th wr
