I'm still trying to sort through which one is mine (there are so many) but I guess a couple I can think of straight away are:

'saw things.. clearer..once you were in my rearviewmirror' - for reasons of the obvious..walking away from crap..

'if I don't fall apart, will my memory stay clear''.. just too true about grief..

...will post more as I think of them..

interested to see what others think.
I am mine

  • yep, love this one too...

'Everything has chains, absolutely nothing’s changed'

gives me the shits that I always think something round the corner is gonna be different/better than the present and then, bang! you know what ..everything does have chains!..not sure if I'm an optimist or a pessimist...cause I think in the first place it's gonna get better!
    I am mine
  • "It doesn't hurt when I bleed, by my memories they eat me, I've seen it all before, bring it on 'cuz I'm no victim..." love that line......damn......
"No way to save someone who won't take the rope, and just lets go..."
  • ...and I come clean...

that says it all in a nut shell doesn't it???

"and the cross I'm bearing home, ain't indicative of my place... left the porch"

still hits me as hard as when I first heard it... independence, leaving home, people who stayed not seeing what I see... that kinda stuff...

everytime i hear the lyrics ....

    Hear my name
    Take a good look
    This could be the day
    Hold my hand
    Lie beside me
    I just need to say
    What can I take?
    I just want to be
I know that i would not ever touch you
    Hold you
    Feel you
    Ever hold
    Never again

i always thought the follow line was a nice one.

"I know that i was born and i know that i'll die, the inbetween is mine"

A few parts from In Hiding:
"I swallow my words /the truth to keep from lying
I swallow my face just to keep from biting
I swallowed my breath I went deep I was diving
I surfaced and all of by being was enlightened"

Holy crap-- that is genius & so very powerful. Gets me every time.

And then something that rings really true to me:
"No longer overwhelmed and it seems so simple now
Its funny when things change so much, it's all state of mind"

And two other lyrics from different songs that mean a whole lot to me at the moment:
-"I will be what I could be, once I get out of this town"
-"Makes much more sense, to live in the present tense"
"Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

  • As stupid as that may sound:

    "I'm still alive"

I had to go through a lot of crap in my life and even though there were times I didn't want to be alive anymore, I still am.

    And:

"Saw things clearer once you were in my rearviewmirror"

That has a special meaning to me because things that happened to me that are too personal to tell here.

"dear dad..can you see me now? i am myself..like you somehow"

can't even begin to tell you how much these words mean to me. when i was growing up, Dad & I weren't super close at all. typical father/son head butting, etc...
then i moved away to school & they took on a new meaning. i saw him in a much different light once i realized that he wasn't trying to ruin my life growing up, but rather he was trying to raise me the right way & build my morals & values.
cut to a few years later when my Dad lost his grueling battle with ALS, and the meaning changed for me yet again. this song has helped me more than i can even begin to explain.

  • All of cant keep. Sums up my perspective on life pretty nicely.
"Ah, life is a gate, a way, a path to Paradise anyway, why not live for fun and joy and love or some sort of girl by a fireside, why not go to your desire and LAUGH..."

This is it for me. And pretty much the entirety of RVM and Present Tense.

Two years ago I had a friend who had gone to New Zealand on a working holiday for the second time and she had really looked forward to it. About 3 months after her arrival she was murdered on the way home from a night out and almost instantly Comeback became very significant to me about how I felt then and how I still do now. As much as I enjoy PJ lyrics nothing feels as powerful this song does. So many lines in it ring true. It is very difficult to listen to and Light Years has a similar effect.

"I will not lose my faith, It's an inside job today.../Life comes from within the heart and desire"
I've always thought this song was great, but since 2 months ago there were happening some big changes in my life that I never seen them coming. Listening to this song, specially those lines, gives me like some kind of hope/peace/serenity that makes all the things have a meaning.

  • if anyone ever underestimates the power of music, they need only read the posts here.

those that dont believe it can 'save' someone, have never sat and listened and listened and listened to the same song over and over and over again and finally ..slowly, through the music, found the will, desire or just 'felt something' enough to get up again..

humbled by what everyone has shared. powerful stuff.

  • I just saw something Ed once said. I read this before, but never really thought about it. But now, thinking about it, he's so right!! "If you ever feel like getting the fuck outta here, just remember: Living is the best revenge".
  • Tell the captain 'This boats not safe And we're drowning.' Turns out he's the one making waves.

great lyric, for me it's my heart telling my brain (the captain) to get a grip of my relationship before i lose the greatest girl in the world. i did, we're now engaged and have a 3 year old son.

i know the song (green disease) has got nothing to do with what i'm talking about but that was my take on the lyric that got me seeing straight

  • ``Makes much more sense to love in the present tense'' - simple concept but incredible lyric nonetheless.

``All the rusted signs, we ignore throughout our lives, choosing the shiny ones instead'' - another powerful lyric in which to live by
