  • GOod interview (I watched it earlier)...

I find O'reilly disrespectful with his claims (stoned slackers, etc...) which cheapens his interview.

    Stewart is a pimp.

O reilly really shouldn't bring up the daily show and taking things out of context. THAT IS WHAT FOX NEWS DOES.

His one lame example from taking things out of context was shot right down by Stewart.

Bill was pretty civil and questions he did try to get JS on, was also quickly shot down by JS.\\

Edit: btw - How butchered is the edited version?
  • O'Reilly got freaking pissed on a couple of occasions.

the edited version pretty much made Jon look like he was wrong. Then O'Reilly had two people come on after. And tell him how great he was basically.

No it wasn't .  He gave Jon credit where it was due. which was on several occasions. He could have just sat there and said nothing and you people would make some shit up or post some link to you tube that's 20 years old. You people just don't like O'reilly no matter what he says. 10 YEARS AT # 1... Looks like ol jon boy has got some catchin up to do.:lol:

What exactly is wrong with NOT liking O'reilly he's somewhat better than the hideous Hannity. You act as if because you love his high ratings everyone must like him, why?

  • If people didn't like him he wouldnt have the ratings his show has. It's the same with Fox news, I know you don't like it ,but MILLIONS of people do. And just so you know not eveyone that watches Fox is some backwoods red neck. I know that may be hard for both of you to except but it's true.
People are turning Fox because they are sick of all the bias and the insults towards middle america that comes from the other stations. Is fox perfect ? No. Have they made mistakes ? Yes.. Do they lean Right ?(Hannity/Beck/O'reilly) Yes.. But they have guest from both sides when they debate issues.and those are the only shows that are op/ed. The rest of the day is news. So for people to say they are not fair and balanced I disagree with.

yeah and he starts right away when he says 'wow, that's actually pretty clever, did your writers come up with that?' and the question about Stewart being critical of Obama "would you really turn on your guy? is that the kind of guy you are?" what kind of question is that!? 'you and your pinhead writers...'

  • come on, Fox does a freaking great job! They are in the business of selling viewers to advertisers. They get people to watch by selling a consistent story of conservatism (or what is today called conservativism), the government is screwing you (which is generally true), conspiracy theory, and people screaming at each other. Of course this is in contrast to reporting what REALLY HAPPENED that day in the news. There are LOTS of people in middle America who love this sort of thing. So, they are selling this audience to McDonald's, Wal-Mart, and GM so people are told to buy Big Macs, chinese plastic stuff, and Hummers. Fox wins by making lots of money, the advertisers get their shit sold, and the viewer has his/her beliefs reaffirmed by Glenn or Bill making the viewer feel all warm and fuzzy and confident that their view of the world is concrete and correct. Win/win/win. Oh, except for the general welfare of the people... because there are negative externalities. For example; ignorance, bigotry and suicide. (the suicide thing is only when Glenn Beck cries. Some people just can't take the stupidity of the world and blow out their brains) And these are the people who VOTE!!! Do you see the fnords, too?

  • I didn't think the edited version of the interview tried to make Jon look bad.

However, Jon shines in the full version. He makes some great points in there.

fox news is not fair or balanced...it's pretty sad if you believe that. they break away and don't cover lots of important issues esp. when it doesn't go the gop's way. o'reilly i can tolerate but hannity and beck are two men (beck in particular) who distort facts in a big way and give out tons of false information. at least someone like maddow goes after the dems for shit and doesn't shy away from criticizing the president and his party. there is bias on all sides of media but for fox to call itself fair or balanced is very pathetic statement.

'American Idol' gets monster ratings... that must mean the best singers come from 'American Idol'. And 'Dancing With The Stars' gets huge ratings.... that must mean it is a great show, right?
Hell... 'Jersey Shore' is MTVs highest rated show... it must mean the Americans want to be moused haired, gym rat douchebags.

Fox News doesn't necessarily have high ratings because it's so good. It's got high ratings because it's so damn ubiquitous. Every place I've gone to, whether it was a hotel, a truck stop, or a restaurant, that has TV, has Fox News available. You can get Fox News with your most basic cable or satellite TV subscription, but you'd have to pay more if you wanted MSNBC. So really, it's even more of a marvel that MSNBC's marquee shows Countdown with Keith Olbermann and The Rachel Maddow Show get the kind of ratings they do, considering that a large proportion of households and commercial establishments don't even have MSNBC.

And as far as Stewart, consider that an online poll had him rated the most trusted man in America. A comedian becomes the Walter Cronkite of his era.

i only saw about 1/2 of the unedited version then the page froze up but how did he give Jon credit where it was due? right away he put him down by asking if his writers came up with what he said, later he refered to him as "you and your pinhead writers" and when he addressed someone's article saying he was too critical of Obama on the Daily Show and his "slacker, stoner audience who loves Obama" would turn on him and asked "would you really turn on your guy? is that the kind of guy you are?" what was that supposed to mean? is that the kind of guy he is?? as if Bill would be happier if Jon only sung Obama's praises, i'm sure he wouldn't complain about that

also, his argument about them taking him out of context was extremely weak, saying they left out that he said most of the prostestors were non-violent, which has nothing to do with him saying polls show most protestors or "loonies". i never knew loony meant violent

and i don't understand the point in having an edited version and an unedited version up, i wonder what Bill would say if the Daily Show did that to his interview?

o'reilly blasted kos polls (one in particular that showed how people think negatively of republicans) and said that the polls are completely non fact based and ridiculous...then go figure he uses a 2000 poll from the same people to support his view...fair and balanced eh?

if you go to the link in the OP and scroll down there will be links to other videos and the unedited version was one of them, another was a segment called pinheads and patriots with the thumbnail image of Jon Stewart

beck always acts as if he's in total awe. sigh i miss his show on cnn, every friday he'd have someone on like ted nugent, billy ray cyrus, larry king...and then he'd gush all over them and bring up all these coincidences they shared like when he told larry king the only difference between them was their belts :lol: it was a mixture of being funny and sad because i think he honestly has some issues
