Well Illinois may be the next state to elect Republicans in the Governors and Senate race, and it seems now there are some real interesting individuals with high delusions of grandeur.

Let's start with the Democratic nominee for Senate, Alexi Giannoulias. He was the lead of his family bank Broadway Bank when he changed its lending policies to up their construction loans over six times their normal amount. When they found out the bank was in trouble he and his family cashed out $70M in dividends in 2007 and 2008 as the bank spiraled out of control.

As State Treasurer he was in charge of the college Bright Start savings program which has lost $150M under his watch.

It should be worth noting that he is a good buddy of Barack Obama. I wonder if Barack Obama feels the same way about him as he did Scott Brown when he stated that the Senate did not need more bankers.

On to Democratic nominee for LT Governor Scott Lee Cohen. It seems Mr. Cohen has quite the past, with a restraining order and domestic battery charge in his closet. Mr. Cohen's ex-wide testified that he has an erratic, explosive temper fueled by the abuse of anabolic steroids. He is also accused of putting a knife to his ex-girlfriends throat who was arrested for prostitution.

Tomorrow I will comment of the GOP Senate nominee, Mark Kirk.

Mark Kirk the GOP candidate is George W. Bush in disguise. A Republican that has split from the national and local platforms to vote for such things as Cap and Trade, against the 2nd Amendment, and often votes left of many Democrats. Kirk was one of eight Republicans to vote for cap and trade but now claims to be against it, a move popularized by John Kerry's flip-flop over the war in Iraq.

This Senate race overall lacks quality candidates, again.

Scott Lee Cohen has been asked to step aside by current Governor Patrick Quinn but so far is refusing to. Although the primary races for Governor and Lt Governor are separate they must run as a team in the general election. Quinn, the former Lt Governor and now nominee for Governor who replaced the removed from office Rod Blagojevich, has his own battles to contend with after he suggested raising the state income tax 50%.

you like to hear yourself type huh?

    are you in Illinois?

Because well you got some of the facts but not the whole story. First with Alexi, Obama more or less did not want him to win from what I have read. Mark Kirk will not win becuase he has been in the house of reps and that will give Dems something to run against .

The republicans have not even picked their candidate yet and it will take months to sort out... no way they are winning that one since they do not know who is on the ballet yet. If Bill Bradly gets the nomination it is shoe in for the Dems becuase he will get zero votes from the Chicago metro area.

The best bet for the Republicans is Judy Bartapinca (or whatever her name is) for comptroller other than that, Dems sweep

BTW they way I wish the Greens would step it up a little, they run some good candidates and are automatically on the ballot but they do not campaign very well. We have a three party system in Illinois

Mark Kirk will beat the banker.

Bill Brady will beat Patrick Quinn because Quinn's running mate has a history of domestic abuse, against two women, and the guy abused steroids. Those are facts that will ruin a political campaign. Jack Ryan the GOP candidate for Senate the year Obama won would have been Senator, but he dropped out because divorce papers were going to reveal that he wanted to have sex with his wife in a sex club. His wife was Jeri Ryan, the actress, 7 of 9 for the Star Trek people. I'd want o have sex with her too, heck I still do. If he dropped because of that and Cohen stays in despite his bad deeds it is kind of pathetic and desperate of the pawn shop owner.

Yes I am in Illinois and yes I follow this very closely. I don't sit here trying to hear myself speak, I was offering up conversation that matters to a nation, much like the race in Massachusetts.

It is a given Bill Brady won't win Chicago, but he will the rest of the state. We will just have to wait and see who turns out to vote. I voted for him in the primary, and I think he will easily beat a Quinn/Cohen ticket. It really should not be close.
  • Cohen??

Good lord, what a fucking creep.....

Every day the story just keeps getting better.

I think we will have to wait and see, but you make a lot of assumptions. My assumption... with 9 months to go, Cohen will end up dropping out of the race by June at the latest. At which point most of your assumptions go out the window.

RE: Bradly let him carry small towns downstate, most people in the north have not even heard of him and you are assuming that people educate themselves before they go out and vote.... unfortunately not. Most will vote party lines or off name recognition. Population of Chicago Metro area is 8 million, the state of in total about 13 million. If Quinn carries 2/3 of Chicago area and small pockets here and there he wins.

Cohen is a creep and using your example of Ryan, it is inevitable that he will be forced out by the Illinois Democratic Machine that everyone complains about. Again I remind you, no one knows yet who the Rebublican canadite is, Cohen will step down before that questions is even answered.

  • Cohen will drop out by the end of the week....

But I am glad, the Chicago Sun-Times, gave us the "inside scoop" of what his former girlfriend/prostitute thinks of Cohen.....

Because we all needed to hear her opinion.....

    agreed

and I said June at the longest, wouldn't be surprised if he was gone by this time next week

right now he is "standing up for himself"

but later he will "do what is best for the state of Illinois"

I'm kind of unhappy with the process that replaces him. I think the 2nd place guy Art Turner should get the nod. Instead now they get to pick anyone including people who did not invest time or money trying to get the voters on their side.

From Quinn's point of view is the nest case scenario

    guy wins

    guy steps down

    Quinn picks his running mate
