I Think Its A State Park Or Some Sort Of Radio Thing, But Now Closed??
It's not closed... it's just under a lot of security as it is now in NOAA property/territory whichever way they call it.
It opens to the public Monday through Friday and you have to show a government issued ID at the checkpoint.. kinda like the airport.. but you can still go in, it's by Magnuson Park...
I Think Its A State Park Or Some Sort Of Radio Thing, But Now Closed??
It's at Magnuson park with several art/music pieces. The windier it is, the better it sounds (IMHO). It really can be beautiful. The same park (different area) where PJ played a huge free show in 92 along with Cypress Hill and others that I can't remember.
I didn't know there was so much security there now - it's lame that you have to have your bags searched and ID checked before you can go in!
Because it's next to Magnuson Park and the property is government property, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Security was beefed up after 911 in general.
When I called they told me how to get in and the best way is to walk in at the dog park, and that the gate is supposed to be open during their business hours and closed on holidays. Since we were there on Memorial Day, we had to view through the fence.
I would probably try that first, and then go through the main entrance if there isn't anybody there or it is locked.
In general, they were very friendly and siad that visitors were absolutely welcome to visit the gardens and the sculpture site.
. . . and in the aching night under satellites, I was not received. --CC
Here a couple pictures of I took a day after the Gorge in 2006. I just drove up to the NOAA and told them I wanted to see the Soundgarden. I had to fill out a visitor form and then park my car down the road inside the fence by the NOAA and hike about a mile but had no problems with security.
Have you not heard of weapons of mass destruction? .......for all we know Alkida could be planning their next attack against the Sound Garden!
