Flannels

Seems FLANNELS are making a huge comeback. I have 2 boys that are 14 and 10.
They keep asking me to get them Flannels. The funny thing is, they are being super super picky about what Flannels they'll wear?? WTF? Does it matter?
I'm gonna say it here, but.............back in my day, in the 90's........did we care what the flannel looked like? I don't think so, I think we just threw it on.

End of rant........thank you.

Agreed. I have the same flannel shirts I wore in 1994 and they are tattered and torn just the way I like them. I have bought a few recently but just randomly picked off the shelves. Great thing is I have a 2 yr old son who I bought some flannel shirts for and they look great on him.

I just bought a few flannels, but can see why theyd be picky. I wouldn't wear flannels I had in the early nineties. I wore them too baggy bag them.. of course I was like 13.

If I had saved my wardrobe from the late 70s and 80s I could clothe the entire neighborhood.

First it was the Dead ~ tie dye and flannel

Then it was Grunge ~ black tshirts and flannel

Now it's STILL grunge...or at least Pearl Jam! ~ and flannel

    Lovin' it :P

Yup, in the early 90s I was in the inaugural stage of my teenage years and thus of course was immersed in the grunge/flannel world, though the particular brand and style didn't matter dick for shit, as long as it looked grungy and dirty.....that's how it worked.....good luck to you :D ..

  • Funny how these things go in cycles. When I was in high school and college in the 70s, flannels were popular.
My husband never got past the trend. He STILL wears flannels. 8-)

They have brand name flannels? Man, I was rockin' flannel long before grunge ever reared its distorted head. They make for a practical and warm camping shirt, always have.

There is like a 'retro' store here but they shirts arn't really my sorta flannel, they look a bit old man too. Ebay i got 1 cool shirt from but its usually just styley flannel not like "grunge" (hate that term) flannel.
  • I haven't worn flannel since the 90's/high school days. I bought mine at the thrift store. I had 2 that I loved & wish I still had them

The newer flannels I buy are Moose Creek brand. They are $15 a shirt and I can wear them over a T-shirt and be warm while walking the dog in January here in Boston. And it gets downright fucking cold this time of year.

I loved my flannels back in the 90s but I gave pretty much all of it away, either to friends or goodwill

doesn't it seem like fashion recycles at a much faster rate nowadays? :?

I have two old flannels from way back in time. Real deal 90's. No sleeves, never had em. Doesnt make sense to have sleeveless flannel, I know.

The funny thing is, I never threw them out, and I almost did the last few years but now my kids think they are the shit. The shirts, not themselves... so I am keeeping them, and they can have em.

+1 Flannel works well in Wyoming. Summers to winter, layered or not.

I buy my son flannel shirts all the time, you can find them almost anywhere for under $15.00. Target is a good place so is Dillards, K-mart and Wal-mart. My son is only (8) yrs old and I LOVE the look on him- he's sooo cute!

I have a couple of old ones kicking around, but I found some at Target for i think $12.99 a coupe of months back. Decent quality, good colors. Might be worth looking into.
