Was reminiscing about Dennis Rodman and what a load of crap it is that he is not in the NBA Hall of Fame yet and stumbled across this video. I must say it's pretty well put together!

There is no doubt Dennis Rodman should be in the NBA Hall Of Fame..One of the all time best rebounders..One of a few NBA players who could help a team win without scoring...If more NBA players would play all out like Rodman did in his day..I would watch more NBA games...Rodman was balls to wall from the tip to the end of the game..My fav NBA player of all time..

Sad part about it all is like Rodman said on the rehab show, "Media"... It's a damn shame the guy got put out there for all the negative crap he was involved in (the guy likes to party so what) instead of noticed for what he did.. Especially for Phil Jackson.. Rodman deserves alot more then he gets credit for. That's the bitch and beast of Hollywood and professional sports, it'll eat ya and kill ya it's just a matter of who cares about ya...Saw him carry Eddie on his shoulders during the Yield tour in Dallas, TX.. Eddie still loves ya Dennis..

Rodman gave all he could every game..Laid his body on line every game for loose balls...I have to give total respect for that...What he does on his private his time...Is his own business...

I agree with that 100% my friend.. Those were exciting times in the NBA. You don't get that anymore.. And people don't realize the talent he played/for against!! Magic, Jordan (the whole Bulls team that won all those titles) Robinson, Madonna, Carmen Electra! (Those last two are a team of their own) .. And I agree about his personal life, it's his own freakin business.. But like I said, Hollywood and sports.. it's a bitch..

Perfectly put, also like you said Rodman's personal life is a different story than his on court life. Plain and simple, the man was a beast in the NBA. He deserves the recognition and deserves to be in the hall with the greats. His stats proove his worthiness. When I think rebounds and defense, I think Rodman.

Yup, love your take on it. Phil Jackson though, in my honest opinion is a great coach...but I think to his advantage as a coach he has been blessed with some pretty coachable, and damn talented teams.

Phil Jackson is a great coach...But, it makes it much easier to coach and win...With players the like of Scottie Pippen, Micheal Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Shaq, Kobe, Ron Artest, etc.

    Exactly my point.

In addition to that list, he's also coaced:

    Tony Kukoc
    Rick Fox
    Derek Fisher
    Robert Horry

whom were (and are in Fisher's case) excellent players, even under Jackson's reigns.

I was always a Rodman fan but just to throw a different opinion out there...

I remember an interview (with Jordan or maybe Pippen) that said the way Rodman would crash in and tap rebounds to himself to pad his numbers cost the team fast breaks off of defensive rebounds and put-backs on offensive rebounds.

I also have a buddy who's a cop in Atlantic City and said he's never been more scared than when he worked security at Taj Mahal and had to throw a drunk Rodman out of the casino for threatening a blackjack dealer.
  • Not to completely diss Rodman, who I actually liked as a player ...

But he completely blew up a couple of promising Spurs teams in the mid-90s ... not showing up for practices IN THE PLAYOFFS and what not ... I mean, it's not like he's the model of what every NBA player should strive to be.

He was a nice hustle player with the Pistons ... then he went nuts and decided being nuts was a good way to achieve a certain level of celebrity ... then won a final title because he happened to be on a team with Jordan (and despite the fact that he kicked an innocent cameraman in the nuts that year) ... I mean, it's not exactly a travesty he's not in the HOF.
