I need new bands, someone help

I need to listen to some new bands, some new music. I don't know if I'm just out of the loop or if there really is no new good bands to talk about. Anyone have any suggestions? Give me bands, albums, anything, I need something new please. Thanks!

Shinedown
3 Days Grace
Rise Against
They are far from knew but have you tried Queens of the Stone Age? They seem to fit right into that R&R type sound you listed there. I like Songs for the Deaf (dave grohl on drums on that album) as well as Rated R.
How about the Whigs? Another nice R&R band from Athens GA. They have two albums out I like the album Mission Control a lot. check out their song "Right Hand on my Heart" it is my fav song by them.
Band of Horses- A little off the R&R sound but you might dig them. The Album Cease to Begin is a very good album, my fav song is on their other album though that song is "Funeral"

What this guy said
i listened to them and didnt think much, i dont think of much of that whole scene, its rather zzz but if you suggest so john then i will listen again as you are usually right...
but i'd disagree SILVERSUN PICKUPS.
OR, you could just go to Bonnaroo this year and discover enough new music to keep you busy for quite a while
people tried to get me into the kinks and the cold war kids and neither of them really worked. ill give some of this stuff a listen and let you know. anyone else with suggestions feel free. Thanks!!
Gaslight Anthem's record the '59 Sound is a fine record, the title track alone is fucking brilliant, few songs manage to capture all the emotions associated with losing someone quite so brilliantly. I'm not really sure what scene you think they belong to? I think they're a good mixture of a lot of different genres.
Silversun Pickups are a fantastic band, although I've been listening to them for about two and a half years, so I didn't really consider them that new.
Musically it's not reinventing the wheel, but sometimes lyrics and sheer passion can more than make up for that.
I listen to....
Zep
Bob Dylan
Radiohead
The Doors
The Beatles
Stone Temple Pilots
Wilco
I'm 17 too, so I'm considered weird at school for my musical tastes :geek:
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
All of the above, plus the Drive By Truckers. Start with Decoration Day or The Dirty South.

wow, not that some of those bands aren't good (mmj is one of my favorites)...but you certainly do need to find some new bands. check out broken social scene. start with 'you forgot it in people'. you should check out wilco as well. it's hard to recommend bands to someone though when you have no idea who they have and haven't already heard, what their taste is etc.
buy possum kingdom today, you will thank me tomorrow
and you might dig old black crowes cd's
The Mars Volta
Them Crooked Vultures
Black Crowes
One band you have to check is White Denim. Heres a thread I made about them a few weeks back:

It's not weird. You just got into good music early. Some will hopefully branch out and explore new musical horizons or will sadly stay stuck in a rut and follow the "in" thing.
to the OP
here is another good band:
Eagles of Death metal. All 3 albums are great- but the debut is a classic.
good call on Wilco
Our lady peace has been around for awhile, but their new album is really good. I've Benn on an OLP kick lately.
