in my dream one night
he slept just sound
but when the music stopped
his heart beat too loud
and when the band resumed playing
humble and frail, he went down

I felt such pain
that he'd never slept this way

in his days
he was strong and brave
for he knew no other way
He'd sing and dance
and his soul he'd give away
he would gather us around
and tell memorable tales
but at the end of the day
off he'd go
as his drink... would find its prey

and the smile he'd wear
would fade away
his soul ... taken away

in my dream that night
i saw another day
he was neither that strong
nor that brave
but he lay just quiet
in a house so silent
but of resounding wood
painted in black
that had faded to grey
in the eternal light of day
that revealed to him
another way

I felt his pain...
had gone away

i wish my dream
were his one day
