Melkweg, Amsterdam Feb 12, 1992 - Audio?

My first Pearl Jam concert was at 'de Melkweg' in Amsterdam on the 12th of February 1992. By that time I was already a big Pearl Jam fan, but seeing them playing live blew me away completely. Even though Eddie did not seem to be in the best of moods, probably because he was constantly harassed by an over-enthusiastic fan (I believe it was the same guy who Eddie referred to when he said "who taught this guy to stagedive feet first - only licensed stagedivers from now on"), it was one hell of a concert. In my memory they played for hours, yet they only played 11 songs. Compared to the last gig I went to (London O2, August the 18th last year, where they played almost three times as many songs), or any of the other gigs, all of which were absolutely unbelievable in their own way, it is still the Melkweg gig that lives in my memory most vividly. I guess you never forget your first time...

The Melkweg gig was recorded and partially broadcast on national radio in the Netherlands, which I recorded off the radio at the time. I made a copy just in case, but after many years of use, both have finally given up the ghost. So, I was hoping that someone out there did the same as I did many years ago and still has a copy of the concert somewhere. I know there are some rules surrounding requests like this, although I don't know exactly how to do this within the realms of what is allowed on this forum. I am afraid that I do not have much to trade...

If someone can help me or point me in the right directions, I would be very grateful!

Thanks!

  • Hi Brisk, I did not manage to get it from the location you gave me for some reason. Think it may be due to 'maintenance work'. Manage to get it elsewhere though. It is fantastic. The version of Wash is still one of my favourites. I did notice that some of Eddie's chat was cut out (talking about a - or possibly the only - stage diver that night: "let's rate this one on a scale of one to ten...ah, you see, that's a...that's a one and a half" and to the crowd in general, something along the lines of "I have to warn you, sometimes when we get on stage, we get bit possessive...". Eddie shouting "I warned you" at the start of Alive aimed at the guy that was harassing him throughout who he got into a scrap with, refers to that previous comment.

Thanks for the Den Haag link, Whynotsweden. Again, I could not get it from there, but I found it on a different site.

Another good one would have been Rotterdam on the 16th and 17th of July 1993. It was recorded and partially broadcast on the radio in the Netherlands, so it may still be in the archives somewhere...
