Lesson learned from a Princess,........

the wolfthe wolf Posts: 7,027
Woke up to a light dusting
let the dog out to "do her thing"
13 years old and,
she acted as if it were the first time ever seeing snow
she was happy
lesson learned

She eats the same shit everyday
waits patiently for me to return from work everyday
always happy to see me, no matter what
she barks at the mailman every day
she takes her very predictable life in stride, and always happy
lesson learned

I have very little control over
the normal bullshit that life throws at me
I only have control over myself
and how I react to, and handle
the normal, and not so normal bullshit that life throws my way
lesson learned

From this day forward
I will wake to each morning, knowing that I will repeat
many of the same steps of the previous day
I may even make some of the same mistakes,
but I will handle each situation better than the day before
and look forward to the next morning, and all of its challenges
Thank you Princess,
lesson learned.
Peace, Love.

From one dog lover to another . . .
I wrote this for our most recent "side of the road dog", it's called "Devil Dog"

A drooling, farting pile of smells
    Lop-eared, cock-eyed, with a corkscrew tail

    I called you hell's minion
    affectionately, of course
At the tender age of 11 weeks
You could eat and shit like a horse

The vets all said you would weigh 50 pounds
    when you became full-grown
They didn't know you would reach that goal
when you were only five months old

It was touch and go just to keep you alive
You were such a tiny thing
But every second of care was worth the time
for all the joy you would bring

    Well, Daddy fixed your ear
and your eyes can now focus well
    Somebody's trash became our treasure
and THEY can go straight to HELL!!

This is REALLY nice Steve  Don't forget, dogs also love us unconditionally!! I'm liking the way your starting to think. ;)

    Good for you friend!!! :)

    Wish you were here...

  • both of the above really rock... cracked me up here n there, and so true overall... lil sad too
  • I dislike putting a leash on my dog.

I feel so wrong in restraining another living being.

With all they endure, they deserve an untethered walk.

Thank you for the slightly sad sentiments for your beloved pet.

These were both so nice- thank you. Makes me tear up as I lost my girl about 1 year ago, makes me smile as I smell the stank seeping from her 10 year companion ;)
got a car...got some gas...oh let's get out of here-get out of here fast...
I hope you get this message but your not home...I will be there in just a minute or so...
I want to go but I want to go with you.

I've had enough, said enough, felt enough. I'm fine, still in it.

we lost her brother back in august, and the gf split in january. so its been just me and Princess. we have such a cool relationship. i love the dog to death..

she just had a scary moment, had to have 3 tumors removed. the one is cancerous, but not aggressive.
so it sounds as if she will be alright. she is old, 13.5 years, so it will probably never come back in her lifetime.

i think of every day with her as a gift. she has been my savior over the past few months for sure. :D
    Peace, Love.

Sorry for your recent pains. For me, my girl was the most complete being to have around when times were tough-it's amazing. Now that she is gone, often her memory is so vivid that I know she is still here. xoxo thanks for sharing.
