i know most of these albums are fairly new...but they're the ones that really got me into the kinds of music that i listen to today. and i would like to thank them for that.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.
KISS: Double Platinum - This is the first album I recall ever listening to with my brother. I wanted to be Ace Frehley when I was 4 years old.
Michael Jackson: Thriller - I got my own record player and Thriller for my birthday in 1983, when I was 8. That was the first time I remember reading lyrics, wanting to know the words to every song and listening to it nonstop. Also, most of the other records I got that year were Chipmunks records, so it was my first real music. And by this time, my mom had thrown out my brother's KISS records because she thought KISS stood for Kids in Satan's Service.
Duran Duran: Seven and the Ragged Tiger - As a product of the MTV generation, it was hard not to love Duran Duran. I switched from wanting to be Ace Frehley to wanting to be John Taylor. I used to watch MTV for hours, hoping for either "Thriller" or "The Reflex" to get played.
Van Halen: 1984 - Say it again, MTV was a huge influence and I definitely caught the Jump bug. This record is what got me thinking about rock music again after having gone the pop route for the previous few years. I thought David Lee Roth was larger than life, which of course he is...
Guns n Roses: Appetite for Destruction - In my opinion, the greatest album of all time and one that completely spoke to me from an energy standpoint, if not lyrically. I was a rocker for life after this one.
Pearl Jam: Ten - The first album that ever literally brought tears to my eyes, without my even knowing why. This was the first album that truly spoke to me and probably changed my whole life more than any other before or since. I can honestly say that Ten is part of the reason why I am who I am today.
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon - I discovered Floyd late and when I reached an age to start understanding the themes of this record, it really stuck with me. I find this album to be the most relevant to my current stage in life.

“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
Nirvana Unplugged-was a "hit" song person until this album. I learned to love every song and wow, great cd.
Pearl Jam-No Code This was probably 7 years after it was released, when I HATED it, I give it another whirl after reading on the form how popular it was. Love it, my fav now.

Ten/VS. - Pearl Jam - new era, found the greatest band in the world
Nevermind - Nirvana - got us all back into real rock music
August and Everything After - Counting Crows - just love this album from first to last song
Michael Jackson - Thriller- As a 9 yr old this was the first record "I" owned. I listened to my parents music before that ( Beatles, Led Zep, Neil Diamond and Elvis) But this was "My Music".
Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet - My first real entry into rock music of my own, other than listening to Dad's Zep records, which were in a different league. This was great at the time-listened to it religously for a year at least- not really now though
Metallica - Ride the Lightning- a friends older brother loved Metallica, and thought we needed to HARDEN UP. Loved it from the first riff and still my fave Metallica Album
Bruce Springsteen- Nebraska- My mum had Born in the USA and I really liked it, so I though I would investigate Uncle Bruce- Bought Nebraska and Born to Run the next week and haven't stopped listening to the Boss since. Love the starkness of Nebraska.
Pearl Jam - Ten- From the first time I heard Alive on the radio- I just knew this was my band. First Music I really FELT. Was 16 years old.
Sepultura - Arise - My movement into heavier stuff started with Metallica, then moved to Slayer and a few others, but this album blew me away. Brilliance from start to finish and brutal. Not into anything near that heavy anymore, but still listen to Sepultura occassionally- can't get into the new heavy stuff, I always think, I would rather listen to this.
Pearl Jam - No Code- My Fave PJ album- As soon as it started, I knew it was different, but in a great way.
Beatles - Sgt Peppers- I wanted to delve into the Beatles after growing up listening to them though my parents, but never really knowing their albums, just songs here and there. Of the list a great Beatles albums, something stands out for me on SGT's, but I do love the White album, Revolver and Rubber Soul as well.
Radiohead- Ok Computer- had heard the odd Radiohead song before, but never really gave them a chance. Bought Ok on a whim, and really sat down a listened to it...my Fave Non PJ album.
Sigur Ros - Takk- I had heard of this band, but never heard a song, only that they were "good". Was in a music shop one day and it was on special, so I thought I'd give them a go. Nothing like what i expected, but I was entranced and couldn't stop listening to it. have most of their albums now and love them- ache to see them live.
