This was an amazing interpretation of this song last night on the Hope for Haiti telethon:

Wainwright - Hallelujah Lyrics

Ive heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you dont really care for music do you?

It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled King composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you

She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Maybe Ive been here before
I know this room, Ive walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you

Ive seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
Its a cold and its a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

There was a time when you let me know
Whats real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?

And remember when I moved in you
The Holy Dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Maybe theres a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you

And its not a cry you can hear at night
Its not somebody whos seen the light
Its a cold and its a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

It was very, very nice however I don't get how anybody would have the balls do that song after Jeff Buckley's version.
"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win ."

"With our thoughts we make the world"

Yeah, I listened to Jeff Buckley's version too. There seems to be alot of devoted fans of his version (some said the same thing that you to did on my facebook page); I liked the guitar in his. But the vocals on Timberlake's (and the other fellow) was amazing; especially towards the end.

Someone said the original version is by Leonard Cohen; is that true? Another friend said KD Lang has a beutiful version of it too.

    Love the lyrics.
