Chris Cornell to be playing with Pearl Jam soon?

Read into this what you will, but check out this blog by Cornell:

http://www.chriscornell.com/

On playing songs rarely played:

"Who wants to hear what??? I move forward at such a crazy pace, why don't you point me back to a few dark corners and I will drag out some old friends as well."

Could this indicate some Temple of the Dog songs? I know he's been playing a few whilst touring...

And if you want to talk about his new album, you can go to the Other Music forum where every other thread is dedicated to the man :p

I'm guessing by friends he means songs?

I could be wrong though... and I wont get into the new songs, but who would have thought when Carry On came out that a few years later I'd be wishing the next was as good as that... ;)

I would think that "dragging out some old friends" means Soundgarden members. But, we'll see! :)

  • I can't really see how that could possibly be interpreted as playing with members of pearl jam.

Well why not? Yeah it could mean Soundgarden as well, but Chris has frequently talked about his 'old friend' when singing Hunger Strike at his shows, and he's definately expressed interest in playing with the guys again.

I'm not saying it's definite but hey, it would be cool. Was the last time in 2003 or something?
  • FUCK Chris Cornell!!!

    he is wwwaaaaayyyyyy overrated!!

I think CC is just assuming that any of his old friends have any desire to share a stage with him at this point.

I'm sorry, I saw him twice on the Carry On tour and he was amazing, but since his new found friendship w/Chester Bennington of LP (who CC says sings Hunger Strike better than anyone) and the new disc w/timbaland...I'd venture to say that I doubt any members of PJ would play with him give his new **cough-terrible-cough** sound, just my opinion...

I don't care what he does, but I think he should stop this pop star boy band bullshit.

Indeed, Chris may wanna play with PJ but does PJ wanna play with Chris?

Did anyone get that e-mail from the Ten Club? it said Matt was playing drums with some mysterious guests, and it was "Heavy".. I was wondering if it were soundgarden.

He also said that there wasn't a better person for him to sing Hunger Strike with than Chester Bennington from Linkin Park, so I wouldn't put much of anything into what he says.

Am I the only person who is making the connection between this and the 10c digital lounge e-mail that was talking about Matt rocking out hard with some interesting friends in the next room?

Didn't PJ and CC share the stage together in 2003? Correct me if I'm wrong but 2003's X-Mas single was PJ playing Reach Down with Chris and Ed singing. Seems like PJ and CC have lucrative careers by themselves. Would be cool though if they toured together.

  • He likely meant "old friends" as being songs. I honestly didn't take the comment meaning anything else until reading this thread.

While I also hate the new direction that Chris' music is going in lately, the guy is still awesome live. And of course it would be cool for any of the old Seattle guys to get together and jam some songs out. Even if Scream completely sucks, I would still love to see PJ play with Chris again (as long as they stay away from the new songs :P) They might do something like that in the future, but right now I don't think that's gonna happen. I think that goes for the Matt comment as well. I am sure that he will be playing with other awesome musicians (he always does), but somehow I don't think it will be the SG boys.
  • I won't read the link, but I will add this:

  • After his latest album, it is clear he NEEDS to be around some of his old friends. I recommend an "old friend" intervention. Remind him of the man he used to be.

I'd welcome seeing Chris singing his old stuff or TOTD reunion with the guys anytime.
