Breath

Could we ever
Breathe like the weather
And drip in someones face
And let them taste our rain?
In the same way, that we do everyday?
Washing it down with the breeze
Knocked kneed and bleeding seas
That drowned the thousand words, we wish
We'd said, instead
But the dread
And the dread
Of the silence in our heads
That when the record's stopped playing
And we're dancing alone, slowly swaying
In the hollows of our cheeks
Where it reeks of humanity
And the eyelash in our hands
It confirms our mortality
A reality, we bought from our parents
Because they never said, that dread
Was dreadful
So we swallow our tongues
In the hope that a pun
Will sum up our lives and entertain someone
But the crumbs that we gave
Were the smiles that we saved
When we couldn't break a vein, and break free
To be the you
That isn't me
So let's put our words on the wings of the birds
And be free
To take a risk
Put down the lists
And give the gift of a kiss
On the neck of fear, and say
My dear...goodbye
For today I learnt to fly
And tomorrow I'll stop waiting to be given
My reason for living
When all that we're given in life is breath
We choose the rest.
