I'd rather chop my arm off and use the soggy end to write out a poem about Somalia.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

  • You should go. They are awesome. My second fav band for live shows is Pearl Jam. My first is Dave Matthews Band. I think you should atleast check them out once.

I was at last year's Brixton and Hyde Park shows. Expect a 2.5 hr set full of hits and songs from their latest release.

Personally, I really like DMB, have seen them twice, & was not disappointed!!
So I think you should check them out.

  • Saw them supporting Bruce last year at Hard Rock Calling, and they were INCREDIBLE! Very talented bunch of guys, I could watch Carter Beauford play drums all night long, he's amazing. I particulalry love this video:

Amen to that! He plays a massive drum set & completely owns it! Definitely an underrated, amazing drummer. His 'Two Step' solos, in particular have left me jaw-dropped!

Small venues are always great for a band like DMB. The DVD of last year's Brixton show just came out. Do check it out.

 was at the same gig and have to admit I was bored. Had never heard anything by them before. Can tell they are great musicians but just not my thing.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?
  • To be fair, I think I could say that about 99% of support bands if I haven't heard their music beforehand.
  • chimechime Posts: 7,839
To be fair ;) that may be true in a lot of cases but there have also been support bands where I've gone out of my way to hear more of their stuff, gone out and bought an album, really liked one of the songs they've played. I guess I was just disappointed as I'd seen some of the love they had gotten on here and had expected to at least like some of their stuff

Was actually discussing DMB on Saturday night with people who were also at the show and one felt the same way as me and another was already a fan and said she thought they had played it like they were playing to their own crowd (10 minute long songs) and that they should have played it like a festival ,,, hits, less for want of better word 'indulgences' and that she thought that performance wouldn't win them new fans.

Ah it'd be boring if we all liked the same stuff :P

  • Yeah I do see your point, although they did play a fair few of their hits, they just expanded on them. I wouldn't say all their jams are indulgent, like the video I posted, it's quite long but it's essentially the same structure as it is on the record. In all honesty I don't think they jam any more than Pearl Jam do. Have you listened to any of their records?

This is about as close to a straight-forward song they've done, and it's only around 4 minutes!

  • Well in America they do, obviously not over here! Mind you, they obviously have a decent fan base over here if they're playing the O2.
  • DMB are so awesome.

I saw DMB last night at the secc and i thought they were pretty dam awesome!!!

I like a few of the new songs which they played at the start of the show, my only complant is that they didn't play acouple of more hits like What Would You Say!

Carter is an awesome drummer i managed to get a few good videos on my phone of acouple of jams.
Dave was in a very good mood i thought and he put on a great show!

It wasnt as a good as a PJ show but i would defo go see them again for sure!!! ;)

O2 show was excellent. Drummer best I've ever seen. Maybe a bit too much jamming for my liking but excellent still. Really good frontman as well.
