I came to work today and found 2 $50 gift certs on my desk from my boss to Street Light records. So I bought a record player for exactly $100 and a $5 Devo Live record. Playing it now and stoked to finally have something to play all my vinyl on. There are so many Xmas singles and my Benny Vinly I can't wait to play.

Happy today. : ) :P

Did you thank your boss and invite him/her over to hear some tunes and drink some Cab Franc?
Oh, and when you come back to the pit, please don't start a new topic about how great vinyl sounds. Do a search. There are probably 100 such threads.

I did thank my boss, yes. And actually... I don't care about searching for a thread about the topic I want to talk about... I just start new threads when I want to. But thanks for being one of "those guys". Late.
  • HEY! you better stop being stoked, it's a horrible thing kids are doing these days...

  • Yo Tip - about 3 weeks ago I finally went out and bought a record player. That night I sat down with 2 of my closes PJ friends and we drank and smoked (I hate cigarettes!)for hours listening to all my PJ vinal. It was the best PJ time I've had outside of seeing them live.

    Enjoy the player!
  • Enjoy dude!

Thanks guys. I have a lot of PJ Vinyl that I'll be playing... Here's what else rocks. I'm about to move into a new apartment in a high rise in down town San Francisco with this sick balcony overlooking the city. I'm gonna really do my listening party when I move in over a bottle or two out on the balcony with some friends. I love a PJ dedicated evening.

Stoked to have that evening you had recently when I'm in my new spot. Hit me up if you come to SF and lets PJ party.
  • I will. Love Frisco. Last time I was there was for Outside Lands. Good times.

I could search for the 100 other posts on this topic and reply to all of them, or I could just reply here.

I just got a record player for Christmas, and promptly put on records that I've had for years. MAN, THEY SOUND SOOOO GOOD!!!

Seriously, though, they do. But more importantly, I've listen to all the albums so much that other than Backspacer they've been put on the backburner. I just generally listen to live stuff, because I'll never be caught up on it all. And I found that I mostly only listened to music when I was driving. I used to at work also, but got laid off on 9/11, so not so much anymore.

Anyway, two main things have happened. I listen to music in my house more. I know I always could have, but there's something nice about being stoked about listening 25 minutes at a time. Most importantly, I've rediscovered albums I haven't listened to in a while. I listened to Vitalogy so many times when I was a teenager that I took it for granted. Love it again. And Live on Two Legs! Freaking great, even though many of the songs are ones I've seen two dozen times. I haven't even cracked open my Lost Dogs yet, or Riot Act for that matter. I'll get back to you. And congrats, by the way. Enjoy.

Cheers. Rad you have all those on Vinyl. I have Benny which is the coolest thing I own. I have all the Xmas singles and the new box set from Ten is going to be FUN to play. I totally hear you about playing tunes at home. the whole MP3 things makes skipping songs so easy that you really take it for granted. Vinyl is like ritualistic and you end up having fun playing music. I'm listening to this Live DEVO I got... its great. I also got another record from a friend here at work and the first two songs are My Morning Jacket and Radiohead. Rad right?

Viva La Vinyl. Oh...and BOY DO THESE VINYLS SOUND GOOD!

You may not have a lot of PJ, but you have the one I won't have until/unless I ever get wealthy. Lucky bastard.

I'll have to comfort myself with Lost Dogs. I'm just sad that the 3 year old is asleep, so I can't give it proper volume.

I'll have to look into getting my hands on Devo. We have a record convention here on the 31st, and I've never been interested before. Needless to say, I will be attending. The only thing about vinyl that sucks (especially new) is that it's so expensive. And I need to have it. My wife thinks I'm on crack, and I think she might be right. But at least I get to keep my teeth.
