Timbaland

I know this guy is maybe the most successful producer in the world today, despite the historic Chris Cornell debacle but what specifically does he do? EVERY SINGLE video I see him in he is just miming some vocal line in the song. Does he sing? Is that his voice in these songs at all?

You kinda answered your own question. He's a producer. He just sings a line or two on some songs with people he works with. He's also got a couple of albums out of his own.
Best on the web - check them out

It's old news now.. But Timbaland produced Chris Cornell's last album and many think it sounds horrendous.
I wouldn't know since I've only heard that one song they played on radio.
Only thing I really know by him is a collaboration he did with the Hives a few years ago called "Throw It On Me"

other than that Weezer had the lyric about him on Pork & Beans
"Timbaland Know the way to reach the top of the charts"
"Maybe if i worked with him i could perfect the art"

Like the Apologize video, a male singer, not in One Republic, is saying "oh, oh, oh". The video consists of the band in studio, and Timbaland manning the booth, and occasionally "singing" the "oh oh oh" part. Nelly Furtado's Say It Right video-a voice, not Nelly's says "eh" throughout the track. He mimes this throughout the video.
The Bubba Sparxxx track Ugly, consists of Timba dancing in the video, and then at the end saying "switch it one time, now switch it back".
I dont get it.
Yeah would have produced all of them but as i said he does sing in some lines in some songs as well not to mention his own songs / albums. The 'eh' is a bit of a trademark with Timbaland and it is him who sings the line. Obviously he mimes in the video
