Vampire Weekend tops Billboard top 200 this week

so Vampire Weekends Contra was number 1 last week on the billboard top 200. Only the 12th indie release since 1991 to do so and XL's first ever number 1.
Its funny, how many times have we heard the line "indie is over, and done with"? Yet, again and again, indie rock, indie music continues to be the dominant musical genre and scene in music.
Indie is seemingly not only immune to commercial/sell out backlash, but seems to almost grow 10 times stronger anytime someone utters those words.
Remember how everyone suggested the nail in indies coffin was the new moon soundtrack? Is anyone out there suggesting now, that Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, Thom, Lykki Li and everyone else is not a factor anymore?

I never heard anyone mutter either any of these statements...
