AIC - When The Sun Rose Again

Anyone else really digging this tune? Best off the new record IMO.

Sling your hook.
I must say, i actually think Private Hell is the worst track on the album. Other than that, its solid and at times brilliant. ALIV, Last of my Kind, Your Decision, WTSRA, Acid Bubble are all excellent and would fit nicely on any AIC album i reckon. One of the albums of last year, and to the guy that said Duvall sucks, go see him live and then come back to me. The guy has a fantastic voice and brings a lot to the band, without tryin to imitate Layne

Gawh! Seiously? Private Hell is one of my favourites off it. The only song I don't like is the opener. Too long and goes nowhere. The rest of the album makes it easily in my top 3 of 2009. Funnily enough I didn't know when the sun rose again was on it for ages as well!

That's cool, man. Different strokes. I got to see AIC in Washington DC back in September and they absolutely destroyed the place. ALIV, Acid Bubble, and Check My Brain were pretty incredible live when mixed with their older jams. I won't get into a debate with anyone here about Layne v.s Duvall. There is no contest--Layne will never be "replaced." BUT Duvall is a solid new lead, I was actually surprised at how little he sang on the album (Cantrell dominates for the most part). Duvall is also great live (seen them twice now), and both times were pretty fuckin great.
I guess Private Hell kind of reminds me of Down in a Hole a bit....great vocal harmonies. IMO the three weakest tracks (or the ones I listen to least) are All Secrets Known, Your Decision, and Lesson Learned - they just all sound very generic to me, like throwaways from a Cantrell solo album. Again, only my opinion.

Nah man, also cool. I'd agree with All Secrets Known and Lesson Learned, I quite like Your Decision though - the vocal harmonies are still there in the music, William fits in really well on that front.
Saw them myself supporting Metallica last year, Duvall definitely rips up the old stuff, would like to see him do more lead vocals on the next album if they make one. My way of looking at the Layne/William situation, is that i see them as being a different band now - there is the Layne era stuff which is amazing, and now the new stuff which so far is also excellent IMO. Nobody can replace layne, but William isnt trying to as far as I can see, which is why i like the new incarnation of AIC so much. I just try to look at them as a new band, and if you treat them just as that, they kick the ass of 99% of bands out there, and thats good enough for me!
Just my two cents! haha
A buddy of mine just asked me yesterday for my review, and I told him this was the standout track bar none.
