A persecution complex perhaps?

So, instead of Avatar, Chinese film fans can look forward to the Chow-Yun Fat biopic of the ancient philosopher Confucius in its place.

I bet Byrnzie can't wait.

Meh, everything's banned in China. No surprise there. I wouldn't mind seeing that confucious movie though.

Not a total ban and it has been shown in China.

It's been playing for a while and they are pulling it from a number of cinemas. I'm sure if Byrnzie had wanted to see it, he has. Or he can find a 3D cinema.

On the other hand, chinese cinema has a LOT to offer. They do make magnificent films (though don't know what Confucius is like). A bit of protectionism maybe?

This is China - it's been available to buy on dvd in the shops for the past fortnight. I actually bought it today on dvd. I'll give it a watch tomorrow. I bought 'The Road' today as well. Ya see, China's good for some things.

I read about it yesterday. The authorities apparently think the movie will cause 'unrest' in the country. WTF?

Maybe it has something to do with them fearing that it has parallels with land seizures in the countryside, and/or the problems in Tibet and Xinjiang.

The Chinese government are fucking idiots. They banned Facebook during the Xinjiang riots back in July, and it's still blocked now. As if the rioting there was caused by Facebook. Luckily there exists something called 'Tor' which allows me to bypass the Great firewall of China. :ugeek:
