    People would cry Socialism if the govt dare spend more money for programs for social uplift. How dare we take care of each other!

    there are some who would argue that military spending and NOT social benefits spending like education is the only way to remain the dominant nation in the world, hence more money for military and less for education. also, an ignorant population is the only way some of these people can stay in power, so they encourage the ignorance by not funding education...
