Thought the movie was okay....a bit uneven and over the top when transitioning from the 'in-between' to reality....extremely depressing movie obviously..

Went and seen it yesterday. Although I thought it was very good I also thought it was a little on the boring side...I read the book about a year ago and thought it was much better.

i read the book ages ago - awesome! - but it seems the critics overall agree with you on the film. think i'll await the DVD, already put it on my netflix waitlist queue.

overall, i agree, although there were times during which the in between was used effectively and quite beautifully. its combination of serene tranquility, tragic loss and Tucci's sickness left me emotionally confused. the "supernatural" stuff toward the end really annoyed me and definitely contributes heavily to the unevenness.

Me too, sans the beach motif. I fear I would be disappointed by the movie, and that sometimes effects how fondly I recall the book.

I really liked it, but the after life scenes and the ending were strange and didn't really like i. However, I thought the other stuff was that good, I felt it really picked up the movie

  • havent seen it yet, havent read the book yet either, even though it sits on my nightstand right now. Havent even seen Peter jacksons most acclaimed work, the LOTR trilogy. However I did see Heavenly Creatures and loved it, one of those films that changes ones perception and life.

The thing that stands out for me, with this movie, is the poster for it. In terms of photography, and contrast, and lighting, its a stunning piece of artwork. Gorgeous.

I saw it the other day. It was actually better then I thought it would be. I really liked the book and sometimes am disappointed when they make books into movies. I think Peter Jackson did a good job with it.
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.
