    that's impressive!

i was thinking about mix tapes the other day...i mst have had about 200-300 of 'em...they're probably in the garage somewhere...i loved making mix tapes...i quote john cusack from 'high fidelity':

The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don't wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch. There are a lot of rules.

making playlists on itunes just isn't the same :|

absolutely. I used to obsess over them. Never wanted to waste more than, say, a minute at the end. The one I pointed out wasn't even a good one.

you too!? i thought it was just me...many, many years ago i was on a road trip with a friend of mine...we were playing my tapes and it seemed like each tape he'd pick, there would be a phil collins song

now the reason for this was he had enough short songs (which i had  ) that usually fit in to the mix i made...i just couldn't have that much blank space on the end of a tape

i have to figure out how to transfer some of my cassettes to cd this year. ugh to that project.

unfortunately the death of the cassette tape is fast approaching. it aint coming back, unlike vinyl.

    hahaha.
i got rid of all the tapes i've made years and years ago.
however, i still probably have 25-45 purchased tapes. kinda hold onto them for nostalgia reasons. the bulk of what is left of my collection were all purchased during my studies in london, so reflect my musical tastes of the time, plus have all the price stickers in pounds, from the stores i shopped there, etc. they're in a case in my basement, so don't take up much room...so no biggie i figure. i just got rid of ALL my VHS movies in december, donated them to charity. we sold a bunch on ebay ages ago, but given how little you make, just not worth it. the tax deduction is better. 8-) honestly, soooo much of the stuff i save, i wonder...why? we have no children, so i doubt my nephews will even give 98% of my stuff a second look...and it'll all get trashed or donated to charity. i guess for now, it makes me happy. :D
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...
