I have a Phoenix poster - 7/8/98

I'm a huge fan, but I've never really gotten into poster collecting. I just realized that maybe I bought one or two back in the day, so I checked my attic and sure enough I have a poster from the 7/8/98 show up there. When I bought it the poster market was not what it is, so I hung it on my wall with that blue sticky stuff for a while, but it's been rolled up ever since. The front looks pretty good. I can post a picture later, since I'm about to be pretty busy. It's really cool, with an Aztec looking guy.

I have no idea what it's worth, and with people looking for their Holy Grails out there, I figured it may be yours. I'll take PM's for a few days, just to see if it's worth anything at all.

I'll say what I'd love to have, even though it may be presumptuous. I really want Binaural on vinyl, and I don't care if it's opened. Same with self-titled. An opened vs., or No Code would be nice too, because the ones I have are miraculously sealed and I'm still fence sitting on if I want to open them or not.

Anyway, hopefully someone really wants this. I'd love to make someone happy.

I had forgotten about this one. Very very cool. If it were mint, you might get $400-$500 for it, but damaged, maybe $200-$250. There are others that on this board that could price it out better than I, but that's my guess.

Looking forward to the pictures, decent condition is important to me but if its nice you could possibly get several hundred for it..

OK, before this goes too much further I have to say that I feel like an idiot. I looked at it pretty quickly in my attic (not ideal lighting), and got excited to share the news. I just took it down and noticed that it has four small pin-holes in the corners and a small rip in the middle. If it were framed it wouldn't be very noticeable, but it just sucks! Because otherwise it looks really good.

Sorry if this is a huge letdown. I feel really bad, but if it's still interesting then we can certainly talk.

you probably wont get a lot for it, but you could probably use it to trade for something you want. someone who was at the show and wants the poster to frame would still love it I bet. I traded for a Soldier Field poster on here a couple months ago that was barely in one piece (MUCH worse than yours).

I've been after that poster for years. Even in that condition I would be interested.

A rip like that will devalue a print by 50%. Once the print image gets damaged, you cannot just frame out, either. It can be restored but will not be mint.

Of course it will never be mint! but is in far better shape than a lot i've seem on ebay sold for more than $250.

But that's not my poster, the owner should do a little research and see how much or what he wants for it.

The pin holes, being every corner is affected, is unfortunate. Otherwise I would pay a nice sum for it. Who doesnt like the Kachina?

This is from a run of 300, not frequently seen...If someone really is searching for this item you might be surprised what you could get for it, especially around the time people are getting their tax rebates in
    ..

    :)

    Good luck to you!

  • I think there were a few people claiming this as a Holy Grail in my earlier thread.

Even in this condition this print might make someone very, very happy.

This has me thinking. You guys might be able to shed some light on this. How many of these '96 and '98 prints are still around. From an original run of 300-400, how many are still in mint or near mint condition? How many are destroyed completely and how many have visible damage like our Yes Way friend here? A lot of owners of these prints did not understand at the time how much something like this would turn out to be worth...

Well, it's really hard to tell. However, from all the peeps I've met both here and at shows, they tend to take care of their chit. Problem is, most people who collected these will probably hold on to theirs til they drop.

how long is a piece of string? :)

No one knows how many are left of course but 96-98 were some of Ames best work IMO. Mint to near mints are most likely in collectors hands not to see circulation for some time. A G-VG condition could attract some $$ because that is all currently available on the market. You know a print has some value when the fakes show up as has happened with this print.

I am actually considering picking up a 96 Prague in the spring but...my...its pricey!

Prague 96 is an awesome print for sure! This phoenix is rare, but the condition (tear) really hurts its value...i know, Ive been on the hunt for this print for 2+ yrs.

    I want it!! :D
