How can anyone in their right mind still support this bill ? Unless you belong to a union, your rich,or you just plain don't care because the gov. is going to take care of you, or you weren't aware this was happening.

i thought all of you guys believed that obama wants socialized health care? if he really wanted that he would have scrapped this shitty excuse of a bill and pushed for that. he would not have wasted the effort negotiating with the most powerful union in the country....at this point i think he will be happy and relieved to get anything passed at all...or maybe this is a band aid for when the dems get a supermajority in congress then they might strengthen this bill then??

well really who knows what obama wants, in fact with his lack of experience in politics he is going to have to feel his way through this and he can't make something happen with out backing from the house..right ?
seems it's all a give and take deal to me and thats why I wonder about promises all the candidates make
    while they're running for election.

That is funny. A supermajority? They will be lucky to keep any majority. The people will speak if this disaster is passed.

Perhaps. But a vote casted for will be the end of many political careers.

I'm all for reform but not this current bill loaded with pork.

How can the republicans offer any ideas when we have an out of control rouge government that continues to operate behind closed and locked doors. Rush and Robertson don't speak for all Republicans either. Thats like saying Bill Mahr and Rosie O'Donnell speak for all democrats.

Your party is going to be in for a rude awakining come November.
Just look what happened in New Jersey and Virginia. Two of the bluest states that went red. Nobody would have even thought this was possible a year ago.Not to mention what might happen tuesday in Mass.
Also you have Reid who doesn't have a chance in hell.
Chris Dodd and Durgan have already jumped ship.
Let's see um.... O'yeah Arlin Spector and I think there are a few others I just can't remember them right now.
The dems are in full panic and defensive mode right now. They have awakened the silent majority.

Since when was Virginia the bluest of states? Yes it may have voted for Obama but that states history is traditionally a red state. So there's nothing shocking or surprising in Virginia's 2009 gubernatorial elections. New Jersey maybe yes, Virginia no.
In the lead up to the Virginia Democratic Convention today, there's been much speculation about whether Virginia will go Blue in the Presidential election.

Virginia is a pretty red state, although those of us who've lived in Washington, DC tend to forget that. Virginia is where the South and a wide swath of red begins. Although the Northern Virginia area is a nice shade of deep blue, by the time you get to Fairfax County, about 7 miles outside of D.C., the atmosphere becomes positivelypurple. Go another 15 miles and break out the hydrocortisone cream because everyone looks red and it might be catching.

The red rash covers the rest of Virginia, with only a few healthy spots of Blue along the coast, Norfolk, being one of them. Nevertheless, everyone thinks Virginia is in play. Certainly the Obama campaign does. Virginia has been graced with his presence in just the last week. And not simply in Blue Arlington, but in purple Prince William County and Red as rubies Bristol, Virginia. We're being courted. Finally, the Democratic party is trying to heal Virginia's red rash.

Virginia turning Blue would be an event of note. We haven't voted for a Democrat for President since Lyndon B. Johnson. Johnson!

lol, virginia the bluest of blue states? thats like calling texas a blue state or californina a red state lol...

so yeah dodd and that other guy are retiring, big deal...that does not mean the gop is going to automatically snatch up those seats. arlen spector became a dem because he was going to lose the gop primary this election cycle. he will probably still lose even as a democrat. those elections you spoke of were not surprises. john corzine in new jersey was way behind in the polls in early 2008 before obama won the election so i think it is a weeee bit premature and overly dramatic to say that the "silent majority has awoken".... say, didn't nixon coin the term silent majority anyway? that silent majority certainly turned on him didnt it?

They'll get voted out, and replaced with equally crappy politicians, who just happen to write a different letter after their names.

I feel bad for the people of Massachusetts, once again they are left choosing between two buffoons.

This healthcare bill will pass, and five years from now, nothing will be any different than if it didn't pass, and the left and right will be arguing about something that is not an issue to 95% of the public or like healthcare, another idiotic distortion of a real issue that is ruined with special interests and lobbyists.

and they will get voted out as well. I think more and more people are paying attention who's doing what in washington these days.

I disagree 100%... I think that the people who do pay attention, are paying much more attention (with the internet, cable news, talk radio etc.), but from my experiences, the VAST majority of the people have no idea or interest as to what goes on in washington.

I think the only time most people pay any attention are when they are bombarded with TV ads leading up to an election... and even then there is a short window of when they are curious about the candidates before they are completely turned off by the non-stop negative ads that all campaigns end up doing the last few weeks.

I think it's true... healtcare costs will continue to rise, insurance profits will still up, some people will still be uninsured, and we as a country will still be in-debt by a number that none of us can comprehend.

    What about that will change?

  • I think it will change for the worse if this bill passes, Higher premiums, higher taxes

You think It's expensive now just wait till it's free....

also this will create two types of citizens.

One who belongs to a labor union who has a very comprehensive healthcare plan who wont' be taxed 40%

Another type of citizen that does the same kind of work, but who is not a member of the SEIU or a union. They have the same Kind Of plan or close to it will be taxed at 40% because that citizen doesn't belong to an organazation that supports Obama.

That's coruption on a grand scale.
They have been meeting in secret for weeks now. Dividing us up,our revenue, and our private property. They are going to enslave us to one form of healthcare or another. Who the hell is going to be able to afford to keep their health ins. when it's going to be taxed at 40% ? Not the middle class that's for sure.

This congress has embraced a totolitarian way of looking at this society.

It doesn't matter if we have elections, what the polls say,or what anybody says they are going to do what they want to do. This isn't a represenative republic anymore when our congress acts in this fashion. It's a form of despotism.
