Did Ed and Mike take Steroids?

With basically every other one of my heroes from growing up having been outed in recent years that all of their accomplishments were performance enhanced... I find myself wondering... "How can Pearl Jam, and Ed and Mike specifically be THIS GOOD?" It has me questioning... did they potentially use roids or HGH to excel them way beyond their fellow musician with regards to longevity, creativity, overall awesomeness, and albums that are consecutively "HOME RUNS"?

McGwire says he admits to taking steroids BUT he gives the performance enhancing drugs no credit for a single one of his dinosaur monster home runs. He says roids didn't improve his hand eye coordination and essentially had no effect on his mental element. This is obviously BULL SHIT. Could the same conclusion then be drawn towards Ed's lyrical genius? Did the roids enhance his mental ability to write pure magic that supercedes all other songwriters currently writing music. Can anyone really play guitar as effortlessly perfect as Mike does night after night without the help of an unnatural assistant? It leaves me wondering skeptically. What do you think?

Do Pearl Jam need to hold a press conference before a book, article or disgruntled guitar tech comes out of the woodwork with allegations?

There might have been some drugs taken... but those that enhance athletic performances would only hinder musical ones. And those that could "enhance" or "set the mood" for musical performances, would certainly hinder athletic ones.

Hmmm... MAYBE. You might have heard of a guy named, Tim Lincecum. Well... he actually won something called the Cy Young 2 Years in a row now. This was announced mere days after he was caught using what many, including Ed, would probably consider a "musical" drug, weed. Now... who's to say that the "weed" didn't enhanced Tim's ability to pitch like an absolute gangster in the same fashion that Ed's steroid use helped him to write like a rogue scholar?

I see where you're going with this TipJammer and have some thoughts. If it was 1994 I would agree with you. I mean, how else could Eddie conjur up such energy, flexibility and gumption to climb the walls of each venue? To dangle by his legs from scaffolding 40 feet above the stage? To belt out songs with such power night after night? It just doesn't add up without a performance enhancer and to this extent, I think you're right. However, it's not 1994 anymore and Ed doesn't do a lot of those activities like he did back in the day. So, to take your suspcicious theory one step further, I'm going to say they have graduated from HGH and Steriods to a daily vitamin. In addition! The previous commenter is also on to something with the weed factor. Sure, Timmy Lincecum (a proud UW grad) was caught with the salad. But he was driving home to Seattle. Having made that drive hundreds of times myself, doing it sans weed is just plain wrong. The most boring drive of all time....but I digress. Ed's lyrical genious is legendary and HGH or Steriods just wouldn't make any sense. And neither would the daily vitamin. But it could be tied to the salad.

Weed??? does anyone still consider that a "drug"??? I doubt that he was stoned while playing. It could have helped him focus, IDK. He sure does look like a stoner though, lol.

wouldn't be suprized if ed had gotten vocal injections before some shows if he was sick. I also know that, coming from a certain major label musician that I talked with, that they have gotten roids shot in their ass because they were really sick but had to play a half hour set for some festival. Not a big deal in my mind. I would think big music acts and performing acts have that option... shit. why do you think all this young talent dies? cause stuff like that and easily available is addicting.

Cortisone and Prednisone are steriods ...so yeah, you could say that Mike and probably Ed "used" steroids...
