i love this song so much, but i really don't like how they've been playing it live the past few years...

they've slowed down the chorus to the point where it sounds like a different song...

they haven't played the song true to the original since the 2000 tour. i say they bring back the original...

i haven't heard any of the 09 boots yet so forgive me if they had gone back to the original version, or if they've even played it at all...

so yeah i wanna hear the original version of IMT for the 2010 tour...who else is with me?

Nothing compares to In My Tree with Jack banging on the drums but I think Matt did an admirable job in 2000 (i.e In My Tree from the San Diego show).

But you are right about this year- It's not the same. The song isn't as powerful live as it used to be. I tried to get into it at the Chicago and Philly shows but I honestly couldn't. It was almost a downer moment during those two shows.

I didn't like the '03 versions . . with the Boom organ solo . . . . the earlier versions are definitely the best, but the ones I've heard from this past tour are pretty decent too.

Chicago 2 is one of the best versions I've ever heard, when compared to the original. Far better than anything since I've come on board(around 2000).

Was never a fan of the song.....until only recently. I just suddenly fell in love with it, so much so I had to go back to the Live At The Garden DVD to check it out. WOW....

    Solid, solid intro . . . . great version

The other thing the live versions NEEDS is Stone's wonderful backing guitars on the "I remember when, I swore I knew everything...." verse (i.e. 2:15 - 2:48 in the above vid), as well as into the end of the song (3:33 - end in the vid). Some versions lack this, or it's not prominent enough.

Best Version without Jack- San Diego 2000 show right after Don't Be Shy. That was some mean drumming, Matt.
