What's it like living in China so far? I read that the government blocks popular websites like youtube. Is there still tight control over the local media?

Youtube and Facebook are blocked but I get by that by using Tor.
Does that enable you use Youtube? We have friends in Turkey that can't get Youtube as it's blocked and it pisses them off.

I can use Youtube if I run 'Hotspotshield' and 'Freegate' together. :ugeek:
  • man I'd die to do Pearl Jam Chinese pilgrimage, but if it happens it looks like it'll end up being a last minute thing ... sad

I love it here. I have a very easy life teaching English. Lots of free time which I use to read, watch movies, travel, and post here ;) And the Chinese are very friendly people. Youtube and Facebook are blocked but I get by that by using Tor.

If you go to the url in my sig then you can see my photo's of China.

Hey we're doing the same thing...Im in Turkey though. Like someone else said, Youtube is also blocked here...but at least we have Facebook!

I now use a thing called 'Freedur'. I can now access Youtube, Facebook...everything. It costs $40 for 6 months, but It seems to be worth it.
