Oh crap. ...cellphone solicitors have begun.

I just got a call from some wacky phone number 018049587468. It was an automated phone call, with an artificially-cheery voice telling me about the wonders of their steam cleaning company.

I really didn't think that cellphones would begin getting unsolicited sales calls. Damnit.

Anyone else get these calls?

    They've been happening for a while, I used to get calls about my car warranty being about to expire on my cell phone.(At the time I was still driving my Toyota with over 300K miles on it, warranty had expired ages ago) Have also gotten spam text messages for websites occasionally.

    I got the car warranty one a few times a few months back. It was also on the news, so I figured it was some loop-hole in the use of cellphones, since technically I did buy a car and probably used my cell phone on the paperwork... so I thought it was not too far.

    ...but a carpet cleaning company, from out of the blue? Who says I even have carpets?

    i've got my cell number listed on the .gov's do not call list. it works pretty good, other than the companies that don't give a shit about the list (see warrenty company)

    the latest thing has been a phishing scam text saying to call an 800 number which then says something about your CC and you should enter the cards info. yeah right.

    got about 20 or so of those texts during december. gf was getting them as well.

    I never really get any on my personal cell, but I get them from time to time on my work cell.

    Which sucks because I pretty much always have to answer my work cell.

    Never had ONE spam call on my "MagicJack" in 16 months!

    Looks like near-free phone service is the way to go! ($1.66 and 2/3 cents per month.)

    They've been going on for awhile. Telemarketers call cell phones now and its freakin ridiculous. I would know because I worked for Dial America for about a week and a half until I quit because its such an incredibly shitty job.
