Lot of interesting things in the last couple of paragraphs. Always nice to hear that they still get along, still love playing together, etc.

And then that last line about working on new material already!

People, they NEED to make the most money they can, so they can continue to do things THEIR way..

plain and simple. on any given tour , when its a big tour there are dates where bands lose money or just break even.
with them doing only short tours now, they cannot have even one show where they do not make a profit.

That's just business people. get over it.

    been over it.

I liked the interview, it defetally had some translation errors but I got the main gist. It's nice to hear that they love one another and still like to do things there own way. Alot of people depend on the band for there pay check. It takes some $$$ to keep the Pearl Jam train a rolling. There is nothing wrong with making an honest living.

Lets hope this leads to 4 nights in MSG. If they play we will come!

Yeah, this was a good read even with the translation difficulties. Sounds like we can look forward to some good things!

People! This is a translated article! Before everyone jumps on Stone for being money hungry, keep in mind that things get lost and mixed up in translation. Even if he did say it that way, I wouldn't be mad, but it seems kind of ignorant to me for people to jump all over a guy for something he probably didn't even say in those words.

That is what Stone said though. The magazine it's taken from, Gaffa, is a danish magazine, but the translation pretty much conveys what's in the article. If it also presents the statement in a way that's consistent with Stone's meaning is hard to say, but the interview is done by Henrik Tuxen who's a friend of the band - he wrote a book some years back, about PJ as a band, but mostly about the Roskilde accident, the aftermath and he followed Stone around Scandinavia when Stone went to visit the families of those who died, so I don't think the interviewer would deliberately twist Stone's words.

    Just an opinion.

I think he knows when and where they will play in Denmark. If the concert take place next year I dont think he would have mention it. Hopefully they will return to europe and scandinavia late 2010.

  • My only problem is that PJ members are already millionaires a few times over. Yes nobody wants to lose money- but as much as we love them they do live on a different planet to us- they have security and we realistically do not. I remember in 96 when they went to Poland for the fans even though they were going to lose money. I love them I really do. But ever since Ed started a family and Matt joined they have thought more and more about the $.

I sure hope we get told about the Scottish date soon, regardless on whether it's on or off. I won't sleep otherwise.

I'd think that the Scottish date COULD be T in the Park if it's a date which was decided on the amount of money offered, like the article said; I seem to remember R.E.M. settling on TITP in 2008 for the exact same reason.

Unfortunately, I definately wouldn't go to TITP to see them, so here's hoping it's another date.

But the fact that it hasn't been announced so far means 1 of 2 things, if you ask me:

    1) It's off.
    2) It's TITP.

Isnt TITP at the same time as the Bilbao and Lisboa festival?
