That's right. No matter what the Boot has printed on the label or what the Set List reads, Pearl Jam has NEVER played in Kansas City, Missouri.

All shows in the Kansas City metropolitan area have been in Kansas, home of the Kansas University Jayhawks (NCAA Basketball Champions!!)

Just ranting :D

And hoping for a show in 2009 on either side of the state line. It's more likely to happen at the new Sprint Arena in downtown KC, MO but if they decide to play in Lawrence, KS .. is OK.. HEY!!
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

i saw them in kansas city in 1998. yes it was on the kansas side but its kinda like them playing any ampitheatre in the outskirts of a city. i do remember it being fuckin HOT that day....that week of the tour actually...i was sweating bullets just sitting there under the sun....there was no roof on that thing...and that day some shade wouldve been nice! :)
Seems that needlessly it's getting harder
To find an approach and a way to live
Are we getting something out of this
    all-encompassing trip?

I was at that show, too. Second show ever.

That was my first PJ show. It was hot and the show was also hot.

    Location: Bonner Springs, Kansas

Venue: Sandstone Ampitheater although the Ames Bros poster reads Sanstone (later known as Verizon, now labeled Capitol Federal or some such shite)

I saw PJ there in 2000, always wondered why they though the venue was in Missouri. I remember Ed talking about the Cardinals playoff game taking place that same night. When Ed says that they are at the other end of the state someone yelled out "You're in Kansas!" You can hear this on the bootleg for the show.

yeah, Bonner Springs doesn't count. i saw them there in 98' and 03.' good shows. the 03' one was pretty darn short because of the weather. it flooded up front. ruined a pair of docs i had, but i suppose it was time to replace them.

How about they play Wichita!!!! It's the most populous city in the state, and they haven't played there since 1993. It's about damn time they did something about that!!!

Seriously, fuck Boston. Those ungrateful schlubs don't deserve 4 shows a year. :)

1st PJ show for me was bonner springs (considered kansas city -- check out the poster) in '98. like was said earlier -- hot. murder city devils opened. they were a bit "rough" to say the least.

they came back in oct. 2000, but i missed that one because i had to coach a high school soccer game. still eats at me -- great setlist and i knew a bunch of people there. i actually saw them in stl the night before.

third time was in '03 when the mother of all thunderstorms hit just before the show. delayed it for a while, which led to a shorter, but tighter setlist. absolutely soaked because all the water drained down from the hill through the seats. first 5 rows were flooded. mike came out early and threw out t-shirts and later slipped and fell while playing a solo.

they haven't been back since...no covering over the seats and barely over the stage probably has led to that. not sure where they could actually play in kc, but it would save me about 30 minutes of drive time to bonner springs, which is basically out in the middle of nowhere.

how about a compromise and they come to mizzou (soon to be at&t) arena?

    no kidding...

since 2004, i've flown to boston twice (nyc and hartford included) and driven 6 hours to chicago.

throw in a 2003 flight to san diego, as well.

    hey, maybe we should carpool!

    :-)

made my own bootleg for 98, too. been spoiled with the official releases lately, so probably the least listened to show that i have.

i think ed came out for the murder city devils gig...i was hoping he was trying to escort them off the stage. and you're right -- i forgot about torching the keyboard. wtf?

spent an hour on the phone with my sister who lives in chicago...despite crawling home busted from nyc, mansfield and hartford a few weeks ago, i made the executive decision to try to get chicago tix as well.

and yes, worth the drive...even at $4 a gallon.

i guess i'll just have to eat squirrel or whatever i can catch in the back yard for the next few months. oh, well...

They should play "On The Hill" in Lawrence again. Haven't played that gig since 1992. And it's a short drive from Wichita, eh?

Where would they have played in KCMO? Now with the Sprint Center maybe they'll play there. Anyway, we're in the same boat here in Texas.
