Anyone else going to NAMM this week?

Any word on whether Matt might be signing at the Yamaha booth??? Or any other PJ-related NAMM news? I know it's a long shot, but it's worth a try...

For those that don't know, The NAMM Show is a big trade show for the music industry, where manufacturers like Yamaha, Fender, Zildjian, etc, introduce their new products for the year. It's not open to the public, as it's an industry event and there's a lot of business happening there. Companies frequently have their artists come and help introduce stuff or sign autographs. I figure this may be a chance to meet Matt, as I have a family friend who gets me a pass each year.

Would love to meet some other board members there, if anyone's going. I met some of the guys from Dirty Frank a couple years ago, while we were waiting to meet Jerry and Mike from Alice in Chains.

  • Where is the NAMM show held? I've never heard of it.
    Shows:
    Seattle Key Arena 9-21-2009
    Seattle Key Arena 9-22-2009
  • Their main show is at the Anaheim Convention Center every year. It's not marketed all that much, mostly because it's not a public event. The official site is thenammshow.org if you are interested.

  • I will be there as well I go every year Matt did a signing about 5 years ago at the Zildjian booth.
  • cool, good to know. i figured yamaha or zildjian would be the best bets. neither of them ever post their artist lineup before the show starts... guess we'll have to wait and see.

I got a badge from the Recording Academy, so I may hop the Amtrak and go down on Friday. I've never been, so it sounds like a good reason to play hookey from work!

If you really love music, then you should go. If you are a musician, then you MUST go... but even if you don't play anything, it's a cool event for any music fan.

If I go, it will be to see the aging metal musicians schill for their endorsees!
  • I have always wanted to go to NAMM, and the Arlington, (Texas), Guitar Show. I am on the East Coast so neither are easy for me to attend. Fortunately, They are well covered by the guitar magazines - and I suppose drum mags, too - so there are many pictures and articles in them in the following issues.

There's a NAMM in Nashville every year, too.

It seems that if you play music it would be like Disneyland.

Dewie, you got that right. I would be like a kid in a candy store. I just think of a large mall and the stores are Gibson, Fender, Hamer, Ark Amps, Callaham, etc, etc.
  • just in case anyone cares (i doubt it), no one from pearl jam was there. still a great time. namm is like 4 days of musical shangri-la...
