supposed to be a record breaker today, 93° we were issued an 'excessive heat warning'...at least it will cool off to 87°by tomorrow. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

yes. because more normal pnw high temps are 20 degrees cooler...and almost no one has air-conditioning
that said, it looks like they way over estimated todays highs....it's 80 with a good breeze here and just a 3 or 4 degrees warmer in seattle
it's true that seattlites tend to be weather wussies :P*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

yes, we are weather wussies...probably why people move here... :x the temps range between 40°-75° typically
the realtor at the open house the other day liked to point out that the house had a heat pump and a/c...I said, 'and we'd use the a/c for maybe 3 days out of the year".The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

This heat is what I'm used to (from TX), but not having AC kind of sucks. Sam (our dog) hates it.I LOVE MUSIC.

when i moved out here from VA 24 years ago (it's been that long) had to keep the heat on at night all that first summer...if i went back there now the heat & humidity would make me keel over. :P
yep... i've climitized into a weather wussy. it was 84 inside my apt yesterday...i was wishing for an ac then.
where's that open house? next time it gets as hot they should be expecting squatters :lolno:

in W. Seattle...they had a nice unfinished basement that was a good 20° cooler...kinda makes the a/c useless. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

i see what cha mean...
altho i have friends that bought a house in olympia. a year after they bought the house the furnace bit it... they got a great deal by getting an ac installed along with the new one...guess it's okay if the cost isn't lots more*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

In my 4 years in western Washington on the Olympic Peninsula I don't recall it ever hitting 93 and most of you have no AC so I empathize!
Here in El Dorado County, CA, a power sub-station blew out and 50,000 of us were without power for part of the afternoon with temps around 104. The place was turning into an oven but power was restored- for now. More blackouts expected.
