i DID ultimately open that thread and took a peek at some posts, but there is NO WAY i will EVER open the link. :x :evil: :( animal cruelty is something i simply cannot tolerate/stomach. and especially given my rough weeek, i know i just would not be able to handle it, would upset me WAY too much. a lot of people SUCK.
oh and yes...i do still soooo miss the mouse-over preview function of the old board.

I had exactly the same thoughts about that damn thread. I do NOT need one more disgusting thing that I can't forget forever burned into my imagination. I've made that mistake before...reading about disgusting cruel things and they STILL remain in my memory.
I have made the conscious decision to not read stuff like that if I can avoid it.

When I finally got my own computer 3 and a half years ago, I spent one afternoon watching factory farm videos. Pigs and bulls having their testicles torn out without anesthesia, cattle being branded, chickens having their beaks sliced off, cattle still fully conscious having their esophaguses cut out (the blood-curdling screams from that vid are remarkably similar to the screams of human babies enduring genital mutilation.) Animals of several species being stomped, thrown into walls, beaten to death. I was glad of the knowledge, but was traumatised enough by it that I have only watched one other animal cruelty video in the years since: Minks and foxes being skinned alive. I knew it would hurt, but I needed to know.
Oh, and don't ever click onto link called " Zippo Cat."
Why would I want to read and FEEL the horror of that title?
I'll never look at it....

i do miss the preview feature from the old board too, it was really convenient!
Same with antiwar activism, as an activist, in an internet world, you can see what you want to. You can see, literally what is being done to our soldiers, and what they are doing to others.
These videos and their effects are a big reason why I havent read the newspaper, watched the news, or been an activist in 3 years.
Its a situation of, once you know something, you can never unlearn it. Those videos will haunt me for the rest of my life
