Have you ever heard of these? What's your take on it? What's a good present?

If you hadn't heard of it; it's a gift you give your pregnant wife/partner for bearing the pain of delivery. Supposedly, it's new to the US since the early-90s... but, has been around internationally for a long time.
Here's a new demo called "in the fire":

My wife is all about these, although she never directly asked for one. We have 4 boys...Each time, I got her a piece of jewelry with the birthstone of the child (necklace, ring, earings).

most women know about ALL the occassions where it is "customary" to buy them shit. "Hallmark Holiday" as I've heard before.

Another example is Sweetest Day. That is another one where I have to pony up $50 or so for a gift... sometime in October I think.

I've never heard of this "delivery/pregnancy" gift but I don't think your wife would be upset by the gesture. 8-)

Hey after 44 hrs in labour and an emergency c-section ... I friggin DESERVE something...not that I got anything from my knuckle head ex or expected to....actually all I wanted was to be able to eat normally again and have a roast pork dinner when I got out of hospital, cos I couldn't stomach it when pregnant.

I think it's a nice gesture, especially if it is something that is commenorative of the childs birth.

I hadn't even thought about that connection... probably because she had a c-section.
