Anybody else play this?
My husband and I bought it a few days ago and yes we're addicted! I feel like a little kid again playing it.

  • Oh man, my fiance and I got this for Christmas from my mom. I also feel like I'm back in 1986. It's SO much fun.

It's great cause you can both play at the same time. We're already in the 7th world...only one more to go and then we're gonna go back and try and find the secret endings to levels.

My wife and I finished it together. Funny thing is she jumped on my head a lot causing The Mario to die. By the time we finished the game I used about 20 continues which means I died at least 100 times. Haha.

It sure is fun! We are in the process of going back and getting all the Star Coins to unlock the levels in World 9. They are really hard levels though.

I found out when Mario gets 99 lives and returns to the World screen he takes his hat off. You can play hatless as long as you enter the level with 99 lives. I tried it with Luigi and he keeps his hat on.

I love the fact that you can continue as many times as you want...unlike the old Mario's. My husband already has 25 continues and we haven't even beat World 7 yet and it's true it's probably mostly my fault for being in his way :? Some of the star coins look impossible and thanks for the tip, I didn't know there was a World 9 once you get all of those coins. And how are you supposed to get 99 lives? You must be a pro! I think the most either of us got was 12 or so.

Wait....people have had to use continues?

Although I've only played it in single player mode, so I haven't had anyone jumping on my head!

    Very much worth it.

I know Super Mario Galaxy was a great game, and was huge for the wii. It was lots of fun for sure.

But after playing this game, it reminded me how the simple stuff works so well.

This past Sunday, it was snowing like crazy and we had no plans. My Wife put it on after our coffee, and before we knew it, 5 hours had passed.

Definately time flies while playing this...the end of my thumbs feel raw from pushing the buttons for hours at a time.

An easy yet long way to get a lot of lives is on World 3-2. Go to just past the first Star Coin and take out the snowball throwing koopa. Go back and grab a turtle, take him forward to where the 2 mushrooms, 2 question mark blocks and stand on one of the question marks. Throw the turtle shell so it goes back and forth between the two bullet stands. The bullets will get pushed down and the turtle shell will hit them accumulating points and eventually 1ups. You can get about 85 lives before time runs out, you can let the clock run you out and die if you want to but you'll be small of course when you return to the world screen.

It's easiest to do this with just Mario, it's possible with two players but is a lot harder to avoid bullets and have them both up on the questions marks. One of the question marks is a Star as well. Plus whoever throws the shell is the one that gets the lives.
  • Here is another way to get 99 lives.

This is such a great game, definitely lived up to my exceptions, I cant stop playing it.

  • I knew there was a reason I still had my Wii!

In the midst of trying to play Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed 2, and so on, this game is taking up a lot of my time.

It's so much fun! Old-school simplicity with a twist!

just got to world 8. there is a sgortcut in world 7, in the first castle after the half way mark with the bombs shooting out at you while your riding that thing go to the right and you can walk through the wall (its about a quarter of the way up) and you skip that castle and creats a short cut and when you get to the final castle you starr right outside the BIG door.
    I'll be back

  • THIS GAME IS SO FUCKING EXCELLENT!

its everything great about any mario ever rolled into one... its got that intense kindof challenge where you find yourself jumping up and down and screaming at the tv like i did when i was 5... all the new features are pretty sweet too

the one bad thing i will say is that the "bubble" feature (i dont know what else to call it) is too close to the D-pad... i kept accidentally killing myself

oh and i only saw yoshis in world 1... unless i missed them somewhere... waddup with that??

cool levels though! thought the worlds looked a little more expansive than they really were... the bosses were great! the penguin and ice flower are sweet! not crazy about the propeller suit but i probably just need more practice

and as much as i liked the infinite amount of continues it made it seem a little too easy

theres my review... GO GET THIS GAME! (i dont even have a wii but am thinking about it now)

i wish i hadnt rushed through it... i kept seeing spots on that map that were obviously shortcuts... but i just wanted to beat the levels and the game... ill need to buy it and replay
