Nijmegen to Berlin?

How are you all getting from one to the other?

Also, are you staying in central Berlin and then travelling to Wuhlheide or staying near the venue?

We've sorted our tour from Belfast to Nijmegen, but we're having problems getting cheap direct flights from Netherlands to Berlin. We also have absolutely no idea where to stay in Berlin or what transport to the venue is like...

Help! :(
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

Transport to the venue is great. You can get the S3 from the centre of Berlin to Wuhlheide, it takes maybe half an hour or so. Then there's the classic mini-train within the venue operated by kids - craziest thing ever!! You can then get the S3 back, no problems with timings or the likes!

Also, flight-wise, it might be worth getting a train to Dusseldorf, then flying to Berlin

ETA - train from Amsterdam to Dusseldorf takes just over 2 hours and it's direct. You can then fly to Berlin, which takes less than an hour if memory serves me.

Another ETA - it costs €29 for a single ticket from Amsterdam to Dusseldorf. http://onlineboeken.nshispeed.nl/microtips/display

I don't think you can book that Amsterdam to Berlin train just yet.

That's what I'll be on- crashing at Amsterdam after Nijmegen, then take the morning train out.

last year we flew from amsterdam to tegel.. walked about the centre of berlin then went to our hotel late at night the day before the show which was near the venue (got a taxi to and fro the venue). Try Tegel if you havent looked at that, if not try schönefeld airport.

though this year there are about 5 of us getting a train from amsterdam to berlin, they also did it last year so im just going with the flow there (got some german people so easy :P). Im sure there are others who i dont know of yet who are getting the train too.
  • We're not getting the train from Amsterdam to Berlin, i'm not good on trains and coaches for hours; i'll end up killing someone!

Dave spent hours looking into everything last night, hopefully we'll be booking something soon. I know you can't book trains until about 3 months before so maybe just flights for now...

Try flying out from Airport Weeze - it is only 45 mins from Nijmegen (just across the border in Germany) and Ryan Air has cheap flights to Berlin Schonefeld. www.airportweeze.com

One investigated... no good :( Apparently the problem we're having at the moment is getting home from Berlin. The only flights we can get are into Gatwick or East Midlands at stupid o' clock at night. East midlands is an option but our car won't be there and we'll have to drag a friend all the way from Coventry to give us a lift home :?

It is oddly awkward getting back to the northern part of England! A few of us last year got a flight from Berlin-Dusseldorf-Manchester, for about €30 single. The flights are pretty short too. You can fly from Dusseldorf back to BIrmingham.

Hmmm... that could certainly be an option. We'll discuss 8-)
