    Brass knuckles and running shoes!

  • In my experience, roll them and bring a rubber band (a looser rubber band or your girlfriends hair tie) or string with you and bring a plastic bag big enough to put it in. Never let it out of your sight either. I'm paranoid of getting mine lifted.

line the fuck up early and rush the poster stand. They usually have rubber bands... I usually bring my own, ask for 2-4 depending on how thick they are (thicker ones I find 2 work fine, the thin shitty ones get 4).... anyway... roll the poster up and then put 1-2 rubber bands on each end about 2-3 inches from the edge, don't put them in the middle of the poster... ask the vendor for a large bag and put it inside of it... then sometimes what I do is I grab another bag from another stand or ask for one and double bag it.

I've stuck with my method of 2 subway bags and rubberbands, then just make sure no one crushes it during the show.

and yes it has to be subway bags!
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

do you work at a subway or something?
  • I imagine subway bags are long enough to sleeve the rolled poster. Savy?

if available, do you think posters will be tough to get at the solo Ed shows?
  • My boyfriend is going to the one in LA next weekend, he hopes they do.

That's what i'm trying. I think if you email the venue you can get confirmation if bringing tubes is okay

no :) but getting subway before a show has become somewhat of a ritual for me.

I would stay away from the poster tubes, many places don't let them in (you could go through the trouble of calling each venue, but that's too much work for me). And you would either have to take the tube back to your car or throw it out.

I have seen some ppl that self-address the tube and mail it as soon as they get the poster, that's wayy to much work for me.

    Maybe I'm just lazy...

So what do you do during the show? I'd love to score a poster this tour but it seems like it might take away from the concert, worrying about it and all. Is it safe to floor it?

You enjoy the show and don't worry too much about it... If it is on your seat and covered in plastic, what do you have to worry about?? I'm assuming you will be standing up...

leave someone in your party outside, and hand it out to them to run to the car. buy an extra lawn or cheap ticket so you can take them to the car yourself and guarantee yourself reentry.

    i have done both

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT BRING IN POSTER TUBES!!
All you'll end up doing is causing a backup in your particular security line and piss off the people behind you!
You could e-mail the venue 8 times, bring printouts of each e-mail, and still end up with a security personnel who doesn't care and won't let it in. And by that point, all of the people in your line, yourself included, will have missed their chance to get in line for posters inside.
    Trust me.
Just do the rubberband/bag thing like everyone else has suggested.

This has been a Public Service Announcement.

bring one, you look like a dweeb carrying it around all day/night, but it the safest thing you can put it in. It is easy to keep track of without smashing.

Every once in a while they sell them in tubes, but I have only seen that once (I think it was the VIC or a chicago gig don't recall)

All I can say is go MacGyver on that poster. SF 2 06 I rolled up my poster, rubberbanded the life out of it, rolled it in about 4 garbage bags, rubberbanded it some more, shoved it down my sock along my calf, and rubberbanded it to my leg. I had front row all night, got pushed and knocked around left and right, but my poster (as horrible as the night 2 poster was) didn't get a scratch or bend on it.

Wow! That's a hellova lot of effort for a San Fran 2 06! Even if you managed to nab 2 of em! :)
