what albums disappointed you the most in 2009? for me the 2 that stand out are

Kurt Vile - Childish Prodigy (still a decent album but i thought it was nowhere near as good as the ep he released in 08 with a band called Kurt Vile & The Violators - The Hunchback EP or his album before that with just himself called Constant Hitmaker. i also saw him and the Violators a few months before Childish Prodigy came out and i think a lot of the songs sounded better with a band, especially the other guitarist, Adam Granduciel who is also in The War on Drugs)

i'm sure many will call my crazy but Pearl Jam - Backspacer (i tried but just couldn't get into it, still haven't even bought it, gave it a few listens and just wasn't feelin it...when i hear johnny guitar all i can think of is that bon jovi song livin on a prayer)
don't compete; coexist

what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama

when you told me 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'
i was thinkin 'death before dishonor'

i can't believe i forgot that one, i must have blocked it from my memory!

im not sure how this could be considered a disappointment. anyone who had any expectations for this in the first place deserves to be disappointed.

Good point, but I have to admit that even with Cornell's name branded on it, I still hoped he could make something good out of it...ended up being the furthest thing from my cup of tea. :(

Green Day- 21st Century breakdown (i agree with south of seattle in it being a watered down version of American Idiot)

British Sea Power - Man of Aran

These guys have put out some great music in their first three albums ... they are indie rock, some times hard driving, some times haunting. I was completely shocked when I saw a new album at my record store and had no clue it was coming out. Well, after picking it up and running home to hear it, I found out why.

It was their take on a soundtrack for a 1934 movie about a coastal Irish town. No vocals.

It's essentialy an Explosions in the Sky record.

There's talent, and some good wirting and decent sounding melodies, but WAY off course from what I've grown accostomed to.

    Thus, very disappointing.

    I was initially too.

Actually, that's kinda the way I've been with most of the stuff from this year. The stuff that hasn't grabbed immediately started growin on me with every listen. And the few albums that have really jumped out at me as awesome fell by the wayside a bit.
