Real Estate with a twist

So, I have recently started a real estate business in Southeastern PA, and had an idea that I thought people here might appreciate. When I sell a home, I am all about thanking the client with something special and unique for their home. Driving around with people and talking, a Realtor can and should learn a lot about their clients, so when the time comes for them to settle on the house, it is a little easier to buy something that they might appreciate that is about them, and not like a generic platter.

So, my dream is to sell a house to a Pearl Jam fan, and to thank them by presenting them with a framed poster. I just think it would be a very special moment to have them unwrap it and determine where they want to hang it, since the walls are all vacant at that point.

I wish my Realtor would have done this for me... I would have seen him in a much different light ;)
For those who scoff at "Jamily" in my name... 9 years ago, when my first daughter was born there were jokes about whether my priority would be my family or PJ. I smiled and quipped "I am a JamilyMan." What was a family joke became a hated term among jammers. Didn't see that one coming!

Heard of it - I am specializing in Montgomery and Bucks counties, but am working this entire area.

Are you in the market for a realtor? ;)

There are discount brokerages that will do it for that rate... but truthfully, you end up doing a lot of the work yourself with those companies. Generally, you get what you pay for, as in with any other business. For those that don't mind doing a lot of work, those might make sense... but for many people, they simply want to list and not worry about advertising, showing, open houses, finding buyers, drawing up contracts, and all of the other things that full service realtor and sales agents do.

Indifference, would you like to share what you do for a living? I am just curious and not being confrontational. I can tell you that my full time gig is as a therapist, and I would not want to do that for less money.

We should have a thread that would serve as a professional directory for people to use when they are seeking/offering various professional (and legit) services.

    Nope.

    Nope.

So you must get a nice salary, which is awesome for you.
I don't imagine you are working as hard as you are to better yourself and get ahead in your field to accept less money. Most of us who work hard would like to be compensated for our efforts.

My firm takes a standard 5% business management fee on most of our clients' (actors, directors, etc.) income, but in some cases, our % is reduced once they hit certain income levels.

Do realtors ever lower their % on very pricey homes? It would make sense, since the amount of time spent on the sale doesn't rise in direct proportion to the selling price.

Real Estate is about relationships... what kind of relationship would I be fostering if I did that!?? ;)

In all honesty, the point of this is that I am looking to do something special for my clients. For the non-Pearl Jam fans, I look for other things that would be of interest to them.

But, I am looking forward to the day when I can present someone with a poster they are looking for.. or from the show the couple met at... or something unique.

your right and the goodie bag or other gift at closing is standard procedure around these parts. Our agent gave us a couple of real nice gifts and two bottles of expensive champange to celebrate (not the italian or california fizzy either) when we closed on our condo.

JamilyMan, just noticed your signature and had to ask: did you ever set out in search for the originator of the term "Jamily"? i suspect you'd owe him/her royalties ;):)

I'd be game for nice framed poster to close...depends on what though...;-)

Thanks, I appreciate that! I hope you are able to find what you are looking for when the time is right. I might be able to find you a good referral in that area, if you are interested (when you are ready).

    Take care!

I can certainly speak with you if you are interested. I am working with one guy who is looking in Delaware Cty. I understand wanting someone who is more familiar with the area, but I might be able to help, as I have resources for those areas as well. Shoot me a PM if you are interested in talking.

    Thanks!!
