The power of words in a song.

It's amazing how words, well placed words can bring on such an emotional and often physical response. From scribbles on paper, to noise we hear, to a gutwrenching experience - hopefully for the enrichment of the listener. Or to set a palpable stage for the next words, and other emotions.
Even just black and white text can bring such a humble feeling, like these lines:
"Don’t leave me so cold, or buried beneath the stones. I just want to hold on and know I’m worth your love... enough. I don’t think there’s such a thing."
"Hold me, and make it the truth, that when all is lost there will be you. 'Cause to the universe I don't mean a thing and there's just one word I still believe, and it's love."
...or can bring subtle contempt:
"I opened my eyes while you were kissing me once... more than once. And you looked as sincere as a dog. Just as sincere as a dog does, when it's the food on it's lips in which it's in love". -Fiona Apple, Parting Gift
...or set the scene, simple but beautifully specific.
"Looking out the door, I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners. Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water". Jeff Buckley, Lover You Should Have Come Over
It's like these words have their own life, and their life affects ours, and maybe even changes our lives, if their interpretation resonates with ourselves.
